That is horseshit! Besides the Christmas hat during the holidays,
my avatar hasn't changed since I first joined! And if you all remember, he has changed his at least once before (but I think it was actually more times than that, right, m0ds?). I remember this because I said something to him about how much I loved his stick man's arm up in flames avatar and how much I wanted him to change it back.
I conclude that the forums are fine. You have me.
And what of my cow? I've done over twelve variations of that very same cow since 2004. No love for my adorable little heifer? :'(
Darth has also maintained the same avatar, apart from some Variations. I also liked ProgzMax's avatar that went with the "LAUGH AT MY BONER, WILL THEY?" caption.
And of course CJ has had the same avatar. But damn, m0ds was a goddamn classic really!
I once set a friend of mine on fire, to try and caption a realtime version of m0ds avatar.

As I'm sure you of all people are aware, certain recent events have left me pretty mortified, so now I think it's just time to step back and concentrate on other things. At the very least, I just feel better off not logging in at the moment, not drawing attention to myself, and certainly no further chances of taking on something I'll later lose out on. In the past year I've had 2 AGS projects close to my heart dissolve in my hands and unfortunately I just don't want that emotional torment anymore, or at least, not for a good while.
Hope you understand Dualy. You know where else you can find me... The world will continue to revolve! If you programmed it to, that is 8)
PS: FYI - the movie, KI and FoY are all still peaking in terms of progress. Those are the things I'll be concentrating on. And it's not like I won't be reading the articles here and elsewhere, it's still my hobby. But yeah, too many blows regarding my AGS projects lately makes mods an unhappy stick man on fire.

Baron, I'm not sure if you were serious, or if I understood exactly what you meant for that matter. You can change your avatar any time you'd like by editing your profile.
If you actually meant a randomized avatar like mine, well SMF forums allow you to set your avatar URL to, say, a PHP script that generates an image. That's how I do it.
