So, here's a new Coloring Ball challenge:
On the move
Use the shape below to show some form of locomotion. Steam trains, frogs hopping, flying airship, running Arnold Schwarzenegger - whatever you can come up with, as long as it's 'going from A to B', it's fine!
But that's not all for this challenge: your entry MUST be animated. So yes; that means you'll have to make an animated GIF (or find some other clever way of showing animation).
Here's the shape:

Rules:
1. You can replace the outline with your own colors.
2. You can use any number of colors.
3. You can resize and rotate as needed.
4. Your entry must have a minimum of 3 frames of animation.
4A. All animation frames have to stay inside the shape.
5. Deadline is Wednesday April 24th.
6. Have fun with it!
Trophies:

(http://www.miez.nl/awards/CB_move_silver.gif) Second Place
(http://www.miez.nl/awards/CB_move_steel.gif) Third Place
A simple, free, online tool to turn frames into an animation can be found here: http://tools.dynamicdrive.com/animatedgif/
Do all frames have to stay inside the shape or just one of them?
Ah good question - all of them need to stay inside the shape :D
I'll add this to the rules...
Fish on skateboard! Aaaaahhhhhhhhh!

Yes! First contestant! :D
I suspect this may not meet criteria 4A, since it is only a part of the critter. Only, after I rotated the outline a bit, it seemed to instantly form the image in my feeble mind. Here it is, legal, or illegal. Do with it what you will...

Edit: Sorry about this one. It did fall outside the competition's intent. Please disregard it.
I made a noob mistake with that one. My apologies. I spent some time looking at the last Coloring Ball, and now have a clearer idea of whassup. Should have done that sooner, but I was just wanting to find out of cMiez could also say "Disqualified!" as well as "Whee!" This one may come closer to cMiez's intent:

Edit: Added imgzoom tags.
A really lame entry from me. A talking cyclops with a horn.

Edit: Whoops it seems that i didn't read the rools proberly so sorry, just ignore my post.

cMiez.Say("Approved!"); :cheesy:
Miez, I'm going to add a last minute entry (animation is missing at the moment).
One question: When you say I can replace the outline with my own colors, does that include transparent?
It's just a few pixels in my case and would greatly improve the image, but at the same time I guess it would sabotage the whole exercise because then people could create arbitrary outlines as they please.
Just asking. ;)
Edit: Nevermind, I finished it without transparency
[imgzoom]http://i36.tinypic.com/w15j0y.gif[/imgzoom]
I's my first serious attempt at pixel graphics.
Man, I really should have planned this better, the chain ended up with 4 frames and the wheels with 3, so I had to go with 12 frames total. :(

Nice entry, and yes - I'd have accepted "transparent" for the outline color :D
Well, in that case, have this as an update:
[imgzoom]http://i36.tinypic.com/96jq84.gif[/imgzoom]
- Fixed some pixel errors
- Added transparency
- The small wheels were meant to spin as well
Here's my entry. Seems like me and Cerno had similar idea with the tracks :)[imgzoom]http://i.imgur.com/sqU0KTQ.gif[/imgzoom]
Hmmm... there are some (previously unseen) white pixels beyond my outline :/ I'll try to fix that ASAP...
EDIT: I honestly have no idea what's causing this. It's perfectly clear in PS before saving to gif. I'll try to convert it using different preferences.
FIXED :)
Right, this one has run its' course, thanks for all the cool entries! :-D
Time to vote for your favorite animated locomotion sprite...
Voting ends sunday april 28th!
Here are the entries:

2. by Jwalt
[imgzoom]http://www.miez.nl/tmp/jwalt.gif[/imgzoom]
3. by fred7162 (I know he said to disregard his entry, but it's animated, it fits the outline and I guess cyclopses have to go from A to B as well, right?)

4. by Cerno

Kasander
Cerno.
I like jwalt's 'sluggish' idea too.
Props for all of my fellow competitors.
Kasander's gives the best impression of speed / movement, while JWalt's movement animation seems the most ambitious, but I think I'll have to go with my gut instinct and vote for Adam H.
Wow, some really impressive entries there.
But, for me, it's got to be....................... Kasander!
Great entries. Kasander's did it most for me.
My vote goes to Adam H. I could have looked at the shape from now until the end of time and never seen what he pulled out of it. Enjoyed the others, too.
I gotta go with Adam H Kasander. Love those jiggling hands. :)
Kasander, definitely.
I love the way you handled the head movement without violating the outline.
Also the hands are awesome.
KASANDER!!!

Congratulations to all the winners, feel free to claim your trophies!
Compliments to all the artists that participated, very cool to see what you came up with. I liked the animated tracks :D
And finally thanks to all the people that posted, voted and commented ...
I guess
Kasander is up to organize the next Coloring Ball, good luck with that!
My, aren't these prizes beautiful :) Thanks Miez, thanks to my fellow participants and to all the voters!
I'll announce the theme of the next Coloring Ball later this week.
Yay, my first trophy!
Congratulations everyone.
