Title: can't build EXE in AGS (3.2)
Post by: LameNick on Sun 03/11/2013 16:20:34
Hi,
I just installed AGS for the first time and when i start the default game or a completely new game it runs without a problem but it wouldn't build an EXE and shows a message:"Unable to set EXE name/description: Unable to load the custom icon: EndUpdateResource failed"

Any idea what could be wrong? (I'm really sorry in case its just me, i'm still a total noob)

Hmm, I found this thread:

Looks like a weird, random bug...?

@Khris: thanks for reply, i checked that post already but didn't find any solution

also when i create new project it shows message: "Unable to set EXE name/description: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt."

i tried to reinstall the program also disabled the firewall because when i try to update AGS it says there is no internet connection

nothing seems to help :~(

I just got an awesome idea to take closer look at the folder structure inside the game directory and found that the Compiled folder actually contains a working exe file :embarrassed:

so it does compile despite those error messages, hopefully those are just some sort of cosmetic issue...

I'm deeply sorry for panicking and wasting time of forum members it's really not that i am reckless, i'm just retarded i beg for compassion and forgiveness (roll)

Yeah, the other thread does mention that the compiling goes through regardless.

I occasionally get that message when I build the game twice in quick succession.

One thing you could try is disable your virus scanner; maybe it's interfering with the creation of the exe file.

You're welcome, glad we found the reason ;-D
I recommend Avast Antivirus btw, it's free and keeps quiet, no complaints so far.
