I'm from Belgium and I'm designing a funny and old-school point and click adventure game for PC and Mac.
Here's the pitch:
After a 10-year quest, Lancelot and his fellow Gawain have found the Holy Grail! Immediately informed, King Arthur runs to meet the most valiant knights of the Round Table. While their king brings them fortune and fame, Lancelot and Gawain celebrate their victory over a few beers. The next morning, Lancelot wakes up in his underwear in a gay bar. The keeper tells him that he has lost the Holy Grail playing cards and Gawain has been kidnapped by environmental activists. If he does not want to be killed by Arthur, Lancelot has to get back the Grail and his companion in arms before the king of Britain discovers what happened.I've started this thread on the AGS forum to introduce you the game's developpement. I will be extremely glad to get your comments, advices and suggestions. My goal is to provide you the funniest point and click I can.
If you have questions about the sorywriting, the making of the artworks, the code stuff, the list of all psychoactive drugs consumed to craft the puzzles and the 'creative' businness plan behind the game financing (and yes, all the rumours about the offshore accounts and the ties with the Russian mafia you read on the Internet are true!), feel from to drop me a comment. I'll make my best to reply the most sincerely I can.

Are the screenshots actually "in game" shots? I don't see any cursor or GUIs (aside from what looks like an empty inventory on the left)?

- These screenshots were composed with Photoshop during preprod, but the assets in game will be the very same. Only the GUI will be a bit updated.
- Yep. The game is made with AGS, and the in-game sequences during the trailer video has been taken from my computer screen while playing (even the thunder background!). The opening church plan and the 'VGA graphics' and logo plans of the trailer were made with AfterEffects thought.

happy to see the work is going on well.
I downloaded and played and It's REALLY funny. I "LOLled" a lot on some sentences.
Well it's a kind of long prologue, very well done and very funny.
Just one point: Atm interactions consist of dialogues only, it would be great if the demo could show a bit more of thegame mechanics, such as interaction of the player on objects and hotspot, inventory and so on.
But still a great work.
There is a lot of funny dialoge in it, but I couldn't get to the end as the font is hard to read, but fitting to the overall theme and way too much dialoge and too little playeraction besides clicking on a dialoge line.
Also the headbanging distracted me, just moving lips will do the trick better imho.

Having re-watched MP&tHG only yesterday after a few years break I second what Mandle said. Gilliam's animations made me instantly thinking of Lancelot's Hangover :) As I said before, the visual style of your game is spot on and I can only applaud the decision. Well, I've downloaded the beta and will surely try it over the weekend.

This first beta was mostly made to introduce the game's humour. The gameplay itself, with the funny puzzles/interactions with objects/events, will be presented in the second beta I'm working on right now. It's planned to be out by the end of the year (probably October).
Terry Gilliam's animations in Monty Python's Flying Circus is indeed a huuuuuuuuuuuuge influence for Lancelot's Hangover animations. It's funny to watch and quick to do when you work solo on a project.
About the headbanger speaking animations, I understand it can distract while reading the dialogs. My objective for the moment is finishing the second beta and its gameplay, but I'll try to fix those speaking animations for the final release :)

I love the visual style of this game! It's kind of a medieval South Park. The Monty Python link does make sense, but I find it's got a style of its own that feels like TV animation from that time period, if they'd had animation. Or TVs.
My personal opinion - I'd back off on all the in-jokes about adventure games (refs to Lucasarts games, etc). You've got something really unique here and you don't need them. In fact, they could end up causing you legal problems in the long run if you're mentioning them by name. I'd also find an editor/proofreader to make sure the more sensitive subjects (like gay jokes) are coming through as funny rather than offensive in English. There's a fine line.

Indeed, the in-jokes about classic adventure games kill the player's immersion. A few jokes could be fine, but I agree there were too much of them in the first beta. The forthcoming version will be lighter with those kind of jokes :)
The whole storyboard of Lancelot's Hangover is finally finished!Everthing is on the walls: the puzzles, the story, the cutscenes, the characters. All I need to do now is finishing all the drawings, wire the whole thing into AGS, make a bit of code - and the game is done! :)

I must admit that these were the exact reasons I couldn't finish the demo. I'm sure, after what AprilSkies said, that the humour is spot-on in the original Italian, but humour is also the easiest thing to lose in translation to another language. Like Bavolis said: A direct word-for-word translation of jokes usually loses all the subtilty that makes the joke funny in the first place. It takes a very talented translator/editor to preserve the wit of humour in their work.
Good luck with the project though: I really enjoyed the other aspects of the demo!

Mandle: I agree with you about the translation problem. Actualy, for the first beta, I've written all dialogs in French, and then translate them into English - which was not the best process. Thanks to the storyboard technique, I'm now more focus on the visual narration and I rewrote the whole scenario directly in English - with less dialogs, shorter sentences and more action. The humor is still there, but it gives more rythm to the game and the story.
Love the Illuminated manuscript style.
