Title: There's a new online manual?
Post by: Crimson Wizard on Sun 20/07/2014 16:13:54
I was surprised to know that there's a newer online manual: http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/manual/ linked from AGS homepage.
When it was created? I might have missed that.

I always find it easier to use the one in Wiki (accessible to forums): http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/wiki/Contents_(manual)
But it's outdated (version 3.1).

Is there a plan to make Wiki refer to the "real" manual?
Also, how it is created and who is responsible for updating it? Perhaps there's a sense to update it to 3.3.0.

Also, how it is created [...]

It was converted from CHM to HTML with chm2web Pro 2.85 (unicode) (http://chm2web.aklabs.com/)

E: Also, the online manual has been there since I joined (10 Mar 2013), IIRC. I'm surprised to know you missed it!

Uhm. Really? I join in March this year and I hadn't seen it! (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/forums/Smileys/AGS/smiley16_wow.gif)
I've been using the Wiki, but hate it, since the search function seems to suck (searchs everything, and not just the manual, and also gives often error, specially if I type 2 words.)

Looking forward to test/use the HTML version! :)

Wiki is a bad, bad place to search for functions, Cassiebsg (and I'm sure you know why  ).

I don't use online version myself but I do believe that presentation and graphical-wise: HTML version looks quite nice.
