>> COMPLETED GAMES THREAD (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/forums/index.php?topic=51973.0) <<
Hello AGSers :)
I am currently working on a new point & click game. This one will be based on the movie "The Dark Crystal" and will take place some years before the events of the movie. You will have to help a young Gelfling to survive in the Skeksis castle. Everything is drawned and animated by hands. Here are some screenshots :

I'm speechless! I love the art! Really good work! Good luck for this very promising project!
Thank you very much :)
It reminds me a lot of French Fantasy comic books!
Somehow it made me think when, more than 15 years ago, I bought La Quête de l'oiseau du temps (I bought it in France)... Sweet memories.
I'm really looking forward to play it!
I can't stop watching ur screenies.
This looks beautiful! Great work Marion. :cheesy:
Great work Marion! Love the style ;-D

I swear these comics (http://ring.cdandlp.com/pycbd/photo_grande/2200000337.jpg) were the first thing I thought of before reading your comment!
That's really pretty, lots of atmosphere, original style.
Out of sheer curiosity: Marion, how did you generate the graphics? I know that you're very creative with ripping some existing graphics from comics, etc. (I'm still impressed by how you totally hacked the Ultima Online graphics to make a Harry Potter game -- and it worked!)
So, is this from a comic, or did you find a skilled artist (yourself?) to generate those?
Marion knows a a thing or two (http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss/279-6282593-6104860?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=marion%20poinsot) about drawing. ;) Graphics are done by her for this game.

One of my favorite movies and stories of all time. (nod)
Glad it's in good hands. Looking forward to it.
Thank you very much to all :)
Yes I have drawn everything myself, I am a French comic book drawer, then... :)
I know I don't always have the time to draw myself the graphics of my games, that's why I often rip other games' graphics, but for this one I wanted to draw everything. I am happy you enjoy it :)
(and I love la Quête de l'Oiseau du Temps ;) )

MIND BLOWN!!!
Very nice. Looks great. :)
Wow, impressive stuff! Looking forward to it.
Fan-freakin-tastic!!
The Dark Crystal is one of my favorite fantasy movies of all time! The music, the magic (of puppets and not CGI), the creativity of it.
I have written a sequel to The Dark Crystal that I've always wanted to make a game out of. It's called The Song Crystal and is set 1000 years after The Dark Crystal. I won't give away more (or hijack your thread) though!
Great job, can't wait to see how this pans out!
Thank you all :)
Darth Mandarb : Don't give up ! I would enjoy playing a sequel game to my favorite movie ever :)
Looks fantastic! The world needs more Froud/Henson inspired stuff.
Hey Marion, have you read L'Épée de Cristal? I think you've just outdone Crisse himself!
Your art is such a pleasure to an eye. Keep it up!
Thank you :)
Bavolis : I totally agree !
Kasander : Yes I have read it, I LOVE Crisse's arts who inspired me a lot when I was a noob drawer :p I am very proud you compare me to him ! Although I can't really say I have outdone him but that's pleasant to read ;)
The art does look great indeed and I've really enjoyed your previous games (especially the RPGs), so I'm definitely looking forward to this. BTW, I see a security/danger bar: does the game feature a sneaking system?

La Quête de l'oiseau du temps
Is that "The quest for the time bird"? I remember a (very) old PC game with the same name - pretty interesting game.
The danger bar represents how much you are safe in the castle : depending on your choices, the Skeksis will leave you alone, or will progressively want to kill you :)
Yes, that's Quest for the Time Bird, and indeed, a computer game has been made from the comic book.
Wow, this looks awesome! Love the movie and look forward to playing this ;-D
Dark Crystal is one of my favourites too (who couldn't love such a creative and down-to-earth movie?); i am really thrilled by the quality artwork you turned out. Make this happen! I'll be over here, cheering you!
Thank you all, the game is on its way :)
All the graphics have been done. Programming begins !

That's great news! I'm very impressed with the art style and would really like to see it all come to life.
Good luck with the programming and if you don't mind me asking, then how big/long of a game are you planning?
I think that would be a middle-long game. Not very long, but I don't want it too short either. :)
omg this is so freaking beautiful already
I'm a huge fan of the movie and this sort of stuff
Yay, Dark Crystal fangame work in progress!!! LOVE!
It always bothers me when people say games can't possibly be art...stuff like this , Ico , even something crazy and silly like Bayonetta...proves them wrong. Every time.
Thank you very much, Kara :)
Almost finished :) Some last graphics to do, test phase, then english translation, and you will be able to play soon :)
Would anyone help me for the english translation ? :-X
It's all done but it just need to be fixed in a better english because that's not my first language and it is surely full of mistakes.
Thank you very much in advance for you help, I will credit you in the game for the translation help :)
I'm 99% sure that Mandle will volunteer... in fact I volunteer him to do it... (laugh)
I second that. Congrats Mandle, you got the job!
This is a beautiful journey back into the world of the Dark Crystal. It was an honor to test this game, and everyone is sure to have a good time.
Lol !! :-D
Well thank you then, Mandle ! :P
Nicky, thank you VERY MUCH for your help and the beta-testing, it helped me a lot ! I improved the game a bit thanks to you :-*
Great, Mandle!
The community really appreciate that!
Hahahahaha!!!
I'm that guy in the line-up where they ask for volunteers to take a step forward and everyone else takes a step back...
Naw....I'm just kidding...I'm a huge fan of your work Marion and it would be my honour to help out!
I'm gonna be busy with work starting tomorrow and AprilSkies is a huge slave-driver on the editing of Tales....but I can't resist this project.
Please PM me with details and I can give you a time estimate on completion once I know the scope if you are interested in my help.
Thank you very much Mandle :)
Actually one of my friends agreed to help me with the translation, but I will PM you if needed :) Thank you again for your offer! :-*
No worries mate....Well, I'm here if you need me ;)
