Is there some problem uninstalling unity5?
If you installed a program using Windows Installer, you may always uninstall from Programs and Features window:

hi crimson

I did uninstall/remove of unity player... but still can't reclaim back the over 3gbs hd space it ate on installing.

Well, you could have mentioned that in your first post...
Two first rules when asking a question: - give important details; - mention what you have tried already.
Otherwise it will be similarily confusing.
There is a program called ccleaner that can tidy up your computer. I use it from time to time. Check it out :-)
I googled for "unity 5 leaves files after uninstall", and here was the first link:

The thread is very old, but from what people write there it seems the problem was persisting at least until the last year. Maybe that has any reference to your problem too.
hi,
I found another unity folder not in programs directory...deleted it and got back 4.22 Gbs..
Solved...
