Anything with an actual plot, not just some gore film (gore is ok, but i'd rather also have a story :) ).
From recent ones, i liked the Babadook, and It Follows. Both had some weaknesses, but overall they were nice.
Lord of Tears was nice, despite being (very obviously) a cheap production. It did have an adventure game progression.

Adventure game progression, uh? Maybe this old italian movie can do:

(I'm italian and a little old, sorry)
By the way: I like your Chrysalis! Hope this movie give some hints for other games!

Thank you! ^^
"Cemetery Man" in the English title or "Dellamorte Dellamore" in the Italian title...
This is a horror movie that has stuck in my mind as one which has hidden depths beyond the obvious genre into which it could otherwise fall.

^Thanks :) I will have a look.
I'd say Shutter Island has some good psychological horror.

It Follows is excellent.
Well there are classics like the Shining, Silence of the Lambs?
I saw the film Kill List recently which was quite good. Also, I must admit I thought Harry Potters The Woman in Black was good. And the Orphanage (El Orfanato).

I really like 1408:

I personally liked the recent film, "Blackcoat's daughter". :)

Repulsion (1965), The Vanishing (Dutch version, 1988), Funny Games (Austrian version, 1997), A Tale of Two Sisters (Korean version, 2003), Let the Right One In (Swedish version, 2008). Basically, anything there's a Hollywood remake of, seek out the original.
Also practically the entire David Lynch Š“uvre, from Eraserhead to Fire Walk with Me to Lost Highway to Mulholland Dr. to Inland Empire.
The following isn't horror, but come on, it is a very cool sequence :=

I always thought that John Carpenter's "The Thing" was better than it looked.

John Carpenter's "The Thing"
I agree. And it's way better than its prequel.
Another movie : I'd say
Rosemary's Baby could fit in this category.

might fit the genre:

I remember that film. I thought it was horrible. I've also always wondered why she never paid a homeless guy to accept the button as a gift or something.

Sam Raimi films, especially his horror films, are quite polarizing. I happen to love them, including Drag Me To Hell, but I can understand why a lot of people hate them.
He has a bit of an evil sense of humour and sometimes even seems to be trolling the audience: the possessed goat scene in particular really turns non-fans off I've found. I watched with some friends and one of them walked out during that scene saying "I'm not wasting any more time with this rubbish. Call me when the next movie starts."
Same with the Evil Dead films, especially 2 & "3"...
The humour is often too intrusive and almost childishly slapstick for many people.
With Evil Dead I think it's 100% due to Bruce Campbell being able to pull off that kind of humour that makes it work.
Drag Me To Hell tries for the same kind of trollish humour at points but these scenes seem more like out-takes from an Evil Dead movie (or more likely fan-service: I'm looking at
you flying eyeball) than part of the current movie you're watching.
I still like the movie and enjoy wincing during some of the more heavy-handed, taking-the-piss scenes.
But I can see why it's not for everyone.

If you are going to see The Eye, I suggest to see the original: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0325655/?ref_=tt_rec_tt
Speaking of eyes, Oculus is also a pretty good one: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2388715/?ref_=nv_sr_1

There are people who don't like Evil Dead 3!!! 8-0
Also, thanks for the reply Mandle. At least now I can understand why people like that film, and probably why it's been kicking around my head for the past seven years or so.

Carnival of Souls, such a great 60s horror film :)
