Title: Coverbox art competition - September 2018
Post by: TheFrighter on Sat 01/09/2018 14:23:06

Welcome to the  Coverbox Art Competition - September 2018!

(https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/ru/4/4b/Waxworks_Box_Art.jpg)(http://www.mobygames.com/images/covers/l/49440-saint-dragon-zx-spectrum-front-cover.jpg)

The challenge is simple:
1) the host (me, in this case) pick a not-commercial very short game, MAGS or fanmade from the AGS database;
2) download and complete the game;
3) draw a cover art (with title and OS) inspired by the game;
optional 4) project the packaging of the box;
optional 5) add goodies (maps, manuals or whatelse).

Tips:
- as the pitch contest, a cover have to capture the attention of the audience... and convince that the game is worth to buy;
- use some plot elements;
- use your own style, don't copy the pixel of the game;
- have fun and drink responsibly.

And now the game I pick...
...
...is this:

Ahh okay. I was just checking. That's a generous deadline. Might give this a go myself.

And if you are interested what rating :-/ means:
Spoiler
Game contains nudity and use of alcohol. Also poor graphics, plot and joke. But hey, game was completed on time for MAGS and intro scene is quite good to be honest.

Competition closed! So the winner is...

BB-27!

...who did a good job: the cover is fine with the colors, the charachters show a little personality and the logo of the title fits! ;)

Sorry I can't give you an achievement prize, 'cause I don't know how to do!  :-[ If Stupot would help...

Sadly this competition ended like this. Bad sorry of me.

Nice picture BB-27.

You revive the 80s tradition of game covers surpassing their content.

That's a part of the fun, Creamy!  (laugh)

Please, tell me if anyone is interested in another round. If not I'll drop down.

I think there were several reasons why interest was so low.

Have a look here:

I think there were several reasons why interest was so low.

  • The game in question was not interesting at all.

This was the reason for me.

Maybe choose a more popular and current game. Not a commercial title of course.

Perhaps just give a particular setting and/or genre from the AGS search page (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/site/games/search/) so that people can choose a game themselves but still within a theme.

    Good tip, Riase! I'll give another try at the end of this month! ;)
