I discovered the safe behind the painting. Obviously, the date in the newspaper is the code to open it. However the detective doesn't want to try. Using the newspaper on the safe doesn't work either.

most logical place is from on top of the roof accessible by ladder, because from in the farmhouse he says that he needs a higher place. but lots of clicking with the spyglass shows that guess is wrong...

What became to the daughter? Its up to the detective to solve the case. He is collecting the evidence und depending on his conclusion, if he is arresting an innocent or the true murder. So if you know the killer, you know what happend to the daughter.

yes there is just one correct ending. By finding the murder you get a confession. By combining the evidences in game you`re getting a logical theory.

try going through the farmhouse when the farmer isn't there. you can use the dialogue to get him out.

I did just that, and the protagonist read up a safe code, but I can't proceed or leave the farm.
