How do the AGS Awards work?
(This is information mostly for new members, same procedure as every year)

Spoiler
Every year, the AGS community embarks on a quest to find the best games made in the last year. All games are eligible, that were added to the AGS Database (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/site/games/allgames/) in the year 2018. There is a For Your Consideration thread (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/forums/index.php?topic=56783.0) where authors can promote their games and players get a good overview what might be worth playing.

The awards are a two-step process: First there is a nomination phase where all community members can nominate the eligible games in several categories (it will be the same categories as last year (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/wiki/AGS_Awards_2017)). The top five games of each category make it to the voting (as long as they've received at least five nominations). Again, all members of the community can vote on their favourite games.
The final result is then announced in a live ceremony that can be joined either with a special client or any regular irc client.

Party like it's 1990 in this thread!

Nominations start next weekend!

Game makers: Make sure you add your game to the For Your Consideration thread (https://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/forums/index.php?topic=56783.0). You should add it before nominations start!

Players: Play the eligible games! A good starting point is the For Your Consideration thread (https://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/forums/index.php?topic=56783.0) or the AGS Database (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/site/games/allgames/).

Uhm... I'm gutted to see this two features when add last year gone.  :~(

Is there a reason why it's gone? (besides the new desging the form has)

Less than a week left! The number of nominations so far is very low, not a single game got the 5 required votes, yet.

So play the games released this year and start nominating. Remember, there is no need to play all games to be able to nominate. Just make sure to nominate the ones you have played and liked for the categories you find appropriate.

More games (including MAGS) to play this week so hopefully will update..

I'm going to make my nominations closer to the end of the week. But thanks for the reminder. I almost forgot it was this Sunday.

Less than 24 hour left for nominations!

Until now, not even half the number of people has voted compared to last year. The result is, that in many categories only two or three games got the required 5 nominations. It would be really sad if we end up without a proper shortlist for each category. Please help to avoid such a situation by doing the nominations ASAP!

I'm counting on you :)

Is there a reason why only a few people nominated so far? Would a few days extension help?

I have really no clue what is different this year.

I have really no clue what is different this year.

Maybe the problem is that there haven't been any real controversies over the awards this year? There's usually someone complaining about something, but not this time around, as far as I've noticed.

So with just hours to spare, I'll try to start one. Ummm... I think it's an outrage that the jury for the Innovation/Lifetime Achievement awards is secret. How can we take these awards seriously when we don't know who's behind them, eh? I say BOYCOTT the awards until my our demands are met!

How dare you say that! Those awards are secret to stop people like you and your raindrop buddies from leaking them all over the internet and making a big digital puddle, you big raindrop.

I'm my case I just haven't set aside myself the time to do it. And I really haven't played that many of the games this year. Not even the MAGS ones 🤫

I'll see if I can have a quick look now without getting interrupted by something.

[edit] As a suggestion, would lowering the number of required nominations from 5 to 4 make any difference? (or dare I say even 3?)

@cat,

Personally I'd love a few days extension. The nominations aligned with my almost entirely "internetless" holidays so I nominated what little I could, but I'd happily do some more when I'm back home.

I did vote for some of the stuff, but a few extra days would certaily be welcomed, so I could play some more games and fill in all the categories.

AGS Awards nominations have been extended to 00:00 GMT on Thursday 14 February 2019.

We need especially votes in the "Best Puzzles", "Best Demo" and "Best Non Adventure Game" categories, but all other categories would also appreciate more votes.

As far as I could tell, there were only two demos in the AGS games db for last year (Echo in the Clouds and Subterra). Any other eligible contenders?

Edit: Oh, I forgot about commercial games that link to demos. That adds The Guilt Eternal (none of the other commercial releases appear to have put out a demo in 2018.)
Title: Re: AGS Awards 2018 - Nomination time!
Post by: Kastchey on Sun 10/02/2019 20:57:47
Lamplight City is a demo too, isn't it?
(I mean it's full as a commercial game, but the demo is in the DB)

Edit: Hm doesn't seem so, the DB says "Download Demo of Lamplight City" but the link seems to be pointing to the full game purchase.
Title: Re: AGS Awards 2018 - Nomination time!

Yeah, if you mark a game as commercial, the download button is hardcoded to say "download demo". A limitation of the site design.

Oh, okay. Good to know!

And on the topic of non-adventure games, we seem to have quite a number of these this year so there should be plenty to choose from...
Here are some I know of in case it helps anyone:

BlindSweeper
Cedric Shooter
Finger of Suspicion
Fists of Murder
Forms
Horse Park
Lab Rat Maze!
Private Detective
Racist
Rat Playing Game
S.A.M.
Sims Hogwarts
Space Tunneler Deluxe
Strawman Bombing Disposal
The Rat Pack

Edit: Added some more I've found.

Thanks to everyone that voted for my racing game. It really means a lot to me.

Did the 5 vote limit stay in place this year or did it have to be removed?

It stayed in place, that's why in a few categories there are less than five nominees.
Luckily, several more people voted or added more games during the extension. That's why in most categories we got five nominees.

Most of the nominees are commercial games. I wonder if the devs might be persuaded to offer a little discount or something for anyone wanting to play all the games in order to vote.

There were several huge sales just now. Winter, Chinese New Year, what have you. People interested in these games had their chances regardless of nomination status.

What I'm trying to say here is that the usual peddlers of gaming software need some time to approve of sales or something.

It was merely a suggestion to potentially increase voters. I believe it was suggested in the past and one or two devs took up the idea.

Of the commercial games listed (which I believe are Detective Gallo, Football Game, Lamplight City, and Unavowed) all but one are priced at $14.99 USD, and Football Game is $1.99, meaning you can get them all for $46.96.

I don't want to hijack this thread and turn it into a debate about how much indie games should cost and all that, but I'll just say that it's very difficult to persuade people to pay $14.99 for an indie adventure game, and offering a discount to increase the voter pool just feels cheap to me.

No disrespect meant to Stupot, but as someone trying to make a living from these games, this is something I feel very strongly about.

We could try getting the people who already bought and played them to vote instead. Problem with THAT is they would need to register here.
Title: Re: AGS Awards 2018 - Nominees are announced!
Post by: Jack on Sun 17/02/2019 19:00:51
$15 sounds like a fair price to me for what it is, even a bit of a bargain. It's more often the content of modern adventure games that would put me off a purchase.

It's a shame gog.com don't host more top notch adventure games. They can be f***heads too sometimes. They only have 2 of those 4 commercial releases, and they don't even have Until I Have You, to take another example.
Title: Re: AGS Awards 2018 - Nominees are announced!

Or people could just watch Let's Plays if they don't want to pay for a game just to be able to vote. I think there are Let's Plays available for all nominated commercial games. It might not be the best option but if your money is tight it's at least a possibility.

How does the "lifetime achievement" award work? Do you take suggestions for that as well?
Title: Re: AGS Awards 2018 - Vote!

The award is decided by a committee where members change every year. I assume that you could post suggestions, but usually the committee has no shortage of suitable candidates and deciding on a single person is sometimes very difficult.

This is something I've been wondering about, and maybe I can briefly hijack the thread to get some opinions: In which category should games fall that aren't classical adventure games, but aren't non-adventure either. Like Hidden Plains. It's half survival game, half adventure game. I always find myself coming up with hybrid adventures, and they don't seem to fit in either category.

Well, I gave my votes. There were a few clear favourites for me this year, so it wasn't really that hard to choose.

And it's also awesome to see that the two projects I was involved with this year are among the nominees. I was expecting Echo to get in by default, since there were only two demos, but Don't Ice Your Cool nomination was certainly a nice surprise. Thanks to everyone who found the time to play and nominate them.

If something approaching half the game (say 40%) is adventure gameplay, I'd say it qualifies as an adventure. If it's less than say 25% I'd classify it as a non-adventure. That in-between region is tricky, though. The Aggies have a "Non-Traditional Adventure" category that could maybe cover some of them (though that's not primarily intended or used for hybrids).

Personally, these are one kind of games I try to particularly keep in mind for the "Best Gameplay" award.

I'm working on it. I'm paying the price for not playing many games throughout the year. Lots to catch up on. I might have to watch a few LPs to catch up but I should have covered most of the games come deadline day.

Remember, you don't have to vote in every category. If you didn't have enough time to play all non-adventure games, just skip it and vote for the rest. Or if you just can't decide which game has the best puzzles, vote for all the other categories.

As every year, the results will be revealed in a ceremony using a special client. There are going to be quite a few new features this year so it is really worth joining. To decide on a date when the ceremony will be held, I created a doodle. Please let us know which days you will be able to join. This also helps me finding presenters. As a time I suggest 20:00 GMT (I hope I got this correct in the Doodle, please let me know if not).

There's an AGS multi-player client that connects through IRC (originally developed by Wyz, Dualnames and JimReed; this year's version is being done by me, Kastchey, Wyz, selmiak and Ali). You can still join through IRC as well, though you only get a small part of the experience.

Here's a recording of last year:

That reminds me: is anybody planning on recording or livestreaming it again this year?

I'm too tired to make a proper announcement, but there's no reason to delay.

Here's the final (barring any major unexpected issue) version of the AGS Awards client (v4.10). Thanks to the efforts of our awesome porting teams, it's available natively on Windows, Mac and Linux:

Windows (.7z) (https://drive.google.com/open?id=1a48wL8V6Aa_qfxMA5WRY8Q93Ax9lPfe4) (181 MB)
Mac (.7z) (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Q1Ieu2wJ6EGcLs8jty-WlEl12eiLUtRS/) (188 MB)
Linux (.tar.gz) (https://drive.google.com/open?id=1MSN_y252bnBeafV-nVk_NxR1F4a-k99y) (228 MB)

The ports should be identical, with one exception: Clipboard support (copy/paste to and from other applications) only works on Windows.
Note that the Linux build depends on a version of libpng. If not installed on your system, you can get it here: https://packages.ubuntu.com/xenial/libpng12-0

I thought I'd make a little guide to using the awards client.

When you first create your profile and get to picking your nickname, there's a "NickServ Password" field. This is for IRC users who already have a registered nick/password. If you don't have a password set up, leave this field blank.

If you fail to connect, you pretty much have to quit out of the program, fix whatever the problem is, and try again. If you set the wrong NickServ password, for example, you'll have to create a new profile when you restart (it will overwrite the current one).

Of course, you can walk around by left-clicking. However, because the IRC channel we use to communicate these actions has limited bandwidth, walking is throttled â€" after you click to walk, it is disabled for a short period. Just wait and you'll be able to click again.

You can also turn to face different directions by right-clicking:

New this year, we also have animated speech:

... and you can perform a "special action" by pressing the button:

Both of these things will only work if you avatar supports it â€" most avatars don't. Also, in some cases the special action requires you to face a certain direction.

You choose your avatar from the menu at start, and can change it during the show. Some avatars are password-protected (if you have a protected avatar, you should already know your password): on the avatars screen, click the "Special..." button and type in the password:

To see whether the avatar supports animated speech or special action, look at the little letters to their bottom right:

[imgzoom]https://i.imgur.com/jjCJXbQ.png[/imgzoom]

"T" means the avatar has an animated speech view, "X" that it supports a special action.

You can also use a number of the standard IRC commands in the chat. Notably, "/me wipes a tear from his eye" will be displayed as an action, "*Snarky wipes a tear from his eye" rather than just something I said, and "/nick MyNewName" changes your nickname to that name (if it is permitted).

You can use the scroll wheel (or equivalent trackpad gesture) to scroll the chatlog up and down. You can use Ctrl-Z/Y to undo/redo text entry, and on Windows you can use Ctrl-X, Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V to cut, copy and paste from the system clipboard.

Buttons that are grayed out and say "(Not available)" are features that haven't been implemented yet.

People who connect to the awards ceremony through text chat (IRC) rather than with the client are represented by "holograms" on the balcony. These holograms are controlled automatically when they're on stage, there's no person controlling their movements.

Edit:
Oh, and a couple of words about bugs. Let's hope there aren't any serious ones, but there's always a chance of a crash. At least on Mac (not sure about Linux), the application will just quit without any error message or warning.

If you do get a crash message, please copy it down (text or screenshot) and report it so it can be fixed in the future. The same goes for any other glitches or bugs you might experience: the hosts will be quite busy during the show, so if you just mention it in the chat there's a high risk we'll miss it or forget about it.

There are at least two known bugs you'll probably notice:
You may also notice people teleporting or "warping" around. This can either be because there's too much IRC traffic (with lots of people walking around at the same time), or often because your framerate is too low for the game to keep up. As AGS games go, it has high requirements. If you're seeing very low framerates, try changing some of the settings in winsetup.exe: make sure you're running in Direct3D or OpenGL if possible. The client often runs better in a window than in fullscreen.

Hello! Thanks for doing this. But when I uncompressed the .7z file for mac, it created a folder instead of an .app file. Could you upload as a proper .zip instead? That usually does the trick.

Edit: never mind! Editing the folder name with an .app extension filed the problem.
Title: Re: AGS Awards 2018 - Ceremony on March 30 at 20:00 GMT
Post by: Snarky on Sat 30/03/2019 12:16:32
Great! If anyone else is having trouble with the Mac .z7, you can get it as a .zip here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/d5qy60ldl6xsxq2/AGS%20Awards%202018%20Mac%20v.4.10.zip?dl=0

And yeah, huge thanks to the people who made the ports. Wyz rewrote the whole sockets plugin to work on other platforms, starting with Linux, and showed me how to create a Linux build of the client. And I had no hope at all of a native Mac build â€" at best I thought we could wrap the Windows EXE â€" so to have vga256, Wyz and sonneveld pull it together in such a short amount of time was really amazing.

The ceremony will start in one hour!

You can already start up the client - we are warming up for the ceremony!

One more note: the ceremony will be moderated. This means, while the categories are presented, the audience will be muted in the chat (though you will still see said text above the heads in the client). If you want to chat during that time, you can join #ags on irc.adventuregamestudio.co.uk with a regular IRC client.
There is also the AGS Discord chat.

Btw, all presenters should have received a PM with their categories.

And thanks to Kastchey for providing such a spectacular "live act" for a band that doesn't even exist!

Thanks everybody! I really feel this event and these awards are all about the community, not just the games, and you were great.

It's a shame we had a big crash, and I'm particularly sorry to those who were forced (or volunteered) to leave because of it. I truly apologize. This was entirely my fault: a bug in the client code.

Specifically, the client has a hardcoded limit on the number of displayed participants it can support. That number has, for a few years, been set to 45, which is clearly dangerously low. (I forget the reason why, but it was to workaround some other old bug.) Even so, we haven't been close to that limit for many years; I think last year we were in the low 30s. However, this year, with the addition of the balcony with holograms for IRC-only participants, those now get added to the count, and with a few more people attending we cross the critical limit and everything is bad.

It's challenging to test for stuff like this, because it requires a LOT of people to participate in the beta. Still, that's no excuse. I'm glad we had a streaming fallback set up, at least (and huge thanks to Cino for picking it up when mine went down), even though it's not really the same.

(Incidentally, in the end it turned out my computer wasn't dead, just in some sort of coma. Maybe it overheated and had to cool down?)

Oh, and since I see that Dave Gilbert dropped by again after everyone left: Yes, Unavowed won Best Game. Congratulations!

I've uploaded a recording of the awards ceremony.

There will be a little jump at around the 10:20 mark. Unfortunately, the awards client crashed for me.
There are about 30-40 seconds missing between the end of the laser show and the first award. Don't worry, I got the whole laser show. It's just missing a little bit of the intro for best demo.

Enjoy.

Congratulations to all the winners, amazing games and a really fun event this year. We had an impressive turnout and a great audience, which really makes every moment spent on developing the client worthwhile.

Also, it's a shame for me that I (involuntarily) missed my opportunity to do the speech for The Rat Pack on CaptainD's behalf, so let me just quickly deliver it now: CaptainD is the author of a stunning amount of three nominations in the same category (!), which is why I'm incredibly happy that one of them has won. A non-adventure game made with AGS is always an impressive feat so I'm hoping to see more of them in the future, CD!

I have to say that even though every year I make sure to remind people I made the first few versions of the client, I think this year it looked fantastic. I really found the Americal Girl Scouts and the award presentation to be absolutely brilliant. Well deserved wins in all of the categories I feel! It was really fun, we were on discord with a bunch of british folk who said blimey a lot, so that was also terribly fun! I really enjoyed this years' awards!! So thanks to cat and Snarky and wyz and sonneveld and vga256 for putting that much effort to it!

So yayyyyy!!

Oh, and congrats to Stupot <3 <3 <3
Title: Re: AGS Awards 2018 - Results!
Post by: Snarky on Sun 31/03/2019 11:19:47
When I received the Innovation award last night I was too frazzled to express my thanks properly, and it was a bit awkward after the big crash, so here goes a really long post:

As cat said, they really tried to make the award for Innovation a surprise, and even though I found out on the night before the show (when I was double-checking all the graphics for the nominees), they absolutely succeeded: seeing it there so unexpectedly, I was stunned and confused, and soon turned grateful and touched. Thank you for this award!

The proper credit for the AGS Awards client â€" the original idea and original work (much of which is still the core of the client to this day) â€" is by no means mine. JimReed made the first proof-of-concept of a "virtual café", Wyz took the idea and built it as an IRC client, and Dualnames took that platform and created the live interactive AGS Awards ceremony as we know it (at least, that's roughly how I understand the history). The key innovation was theirs, and they really should have been recognized for it years ago.

Then it became a community effort, with people adding all sorts of things. It's true that I've put a frankly ridiculous amount of work into it, but so many others have also contributed over the years...

I think everyone agrees that the “live” show by Ghosts of the Ancient Nothing (the DJ duo consisting of Abel and the mysterious Synth II) performing “Wired to a Dream” was a big highlight of the event. LostTrainDude (music) and Kastchey (animation and coding) actually put this together for last year's show, and had to wait a year to see it performed. Thanks for your patience, and great work! And shoutout to Noa Vana and Pixel Hunt, who also did a “live” stage performance for the 2014 awards.

Graphics! We have some great backgrounds by Ali, Daniel Thomas and Andail. Thanks to Ali (The Interdimensional ABK) for updating the main hall background for us this year to add the balcony and stuff! Kastchey has been doing a ton of other graphics, from the GUIs to the Girl Scouts to the trophies. He also did almost all the special nominee presentation screens (you know, "Best Character", "Best Animation"...) this year, and has been an invaluable support in the development. Thank you Kastchey!

And not to forget selmiak, who makes all the 3D intros (which have to be updated every year!) and animated backdrops. He's also done a bunch of other cool transitions and things you haven't even seen yet, but which might be coming in a future version of the client. I should also mention that the design of the Best Game trophy (and so, indirectly, the others as well) is based on concepts by danvzare, CassieBsg and JimReed.

Music! Mark Lovegrove composed the main themes and most of the music cues, and to me they are a signature part of the awards. After so many years and endless testing there are many other tracks I've become completely sick of, but these ones are not among them. Other cues are borrowed from here and there; I'll just mention the fanfare by Handsfree (taken from an Oceanspirit Dennis game, I believe).

Porting! This year for the first time the client is also running on Mac and Linux. Main credit for that goes to Wyz, who rewrote the sockets plugin this year, both so it works for other platforms and to improve performance  and robustness. A Mac port wouldn't have been possible without vga256, who created a working Mac build of the AGS engine, or sonneveld, who figured out how to get the sockets plugin to work on Mac. And in the same breath I would also like to mention Crimson Wizard, who over the years has made a number of updates to the AGS engine specifically to address the needs of this client.

And of course all the other people who have contributed avatars, graphics and music from their games. This is what I'm thinking of when I say the awards show is by the AGS community, for the AGS community. I love having all the characters from all sorts of different AGS games: low-res, high-res, 3D-rendered, photo-based… from fairly crude drawings to beautifully painted figures, all hanging out together. That community spirit is also shown by all the people who have participated in testing, and the people who have offered feedback, suggestions and ideas. Special mention to SSH, who many years ago created the first in-game AGS Awards (as a non-interactive, single-player cut-scene) and inspired what it has become, and to Jack, who insisted on the awards client making the jump to high-res and showed that it could be done.

Finally, a huge thank you to cat. You see her doing the AGS Awards forum threads and hosting the ceremony, but I don't think most people know how much work she does behind the scenes to make it all come together. Including on the client side, making sure we have all the information and assets we need to present the show, collecting it from all the nominees and putting it together in easy-to-import format.

So I'm happy to accept the award, but it's really on behalf of you all!

Oh, and also… while the AGS Awards client is the main motivation for the award, it also seems to be based on some other little things I've made, like the TotalLipSync and SpeechBubble modules, and the Clipboard plugin. For TotalLipSync I'd like to thank Calin Leafshade, whose code I worked off of, and Grundislav, who contributed a speech view to test with and who used the module in Lamplight City, which is very exciting to me. For SpeechBubble I am happy to thank bx83, who hired and paid me (generously!) to make it, and monkey0506, whose work on AGS color handling was very helpful in the development.

The Clipboard plugin is all me, though. I'm sharing that credit with nobody.  8-)

Thanks!

You absolutely deserve this win, Snarky! The client gets better and better every year. Too bad you weren't surprised at the ceremony - that would have been the icing on the cake, I'm sure. Huge congratulations to you and thank you for another amazing ceremony. Also thanks to cat and evetybody else involved in making this go as smoothly as possible.

This is a great overview of the awards client history, and a proper credit to everyone involved. Awesome! The Awards ceremony is indeed an amazing community effort that has been constantly developed by so many people over so many years.

However... Snarky sir, allow me to just point out that as per cat's presentation speech during the ceremony, you have been awarded not only for your work on the client, but for your vast contributions to the module and open source content library in general. You are among the most prolific module authors in this community that had not been awarded to date, so don't you try to dodge the credit for that ;)

Also, my coding for the laser harp show was crap. Guess who fixed it ;)

Congratulations to all winners, but also all nominees!

I am very happy with the award results. Only 48 people voted (compared to 68 last year), but those who did vote put an effort into choosing the right game for each category.

The activity on the board and number of games created with AGS might be declining, but the quality is constantly rising.
Thanks to the game authors for all the games released last year.

Thanks to everyone who helped with the ceremony: writing and updating the client, providing resources, recording, streaming, presenting awards and being in the audience.

I was happy that MAGGIES were again presented at the ceremony. MAGS is such an important part of the AGS community with a constant output of games. Congratulations also for your well deserved Lifetime Achievement award, Stupot.

Thanks again to everyone who played the games, nominated and voted - contrary to other sites where they decide all awards in a committee, this is a community event, and it wouldn't work without the effort of the whole community.

For this year's nominations, people said that they need more time to play all the games. To avoid having this problem next year again, there is an easy solution for this:
After the awards is before the awards. As of today, there are already 15 new games in the database.

Start playing this year's games right now!

I'm sure other communities have similar things, but it's really nice AGS has this!
You mean they have a ceremony with a multiplayer client that was specifically developed for this event using the same engine the awarded games were built with and featuring a laser show, American girl scouts and a group hug? I'm sure there are lots of them out there  :P  ;)

That was a really special ceremony and it was well worth setting my alarm for 4:30 for it. Lots of great new touches. The laser show blew my tiny little mind away. The American Girl Scouts did a stellar job. As did Cat and Snarky and all the backstage crew.

Thanks as well to the panel for my lifetime achievement award. I was shocked about that and a little embarrassed because I still feel like I haven't achieved a lot in terms of making games and modules and whatnot, but it's lovely to know that my other efforts to engage and encourage the community haven't gone unnoticed.

Also, big shout out to everyone who ever made a MAGS game, or even started one but couldn't finish. And to everyone who ever voted. You guys really keep MAGS going. I just do a bit of copying and pasting. I feel I owe a drink to Atelier and Dualnames and those who came before them. They made my job as MAGS host much easier.

Thanks for the love. This community really is the best place on the Internet (sorry, P-hub).

I now declare this month Make A Game April (MAGA). So head over to the new MAGS thread and get a load of the new topic.

Congratulations to all the developers and thanks for the wonderful games!

This year I had the chance to see up-closely how much time and efford go into organising the event and "preparing the venue"; well done all!

This community has always felt like an home to me and I want to especially thank everyone who played the games and voted; because that is really key to the succes of this event!

Also thanks everyone who could make it to the awards in "person" or wachted the stream! (we are sorry for those who could not join because of the "overzealous fire safety officer", tickets will be refunded  ;))

Last but not least, in contrary, thanks for Kastchey and LostTrainDude errr... I mean Abel and Synth II of Ghosts of the Ancient Nothing for that absolutely stunning performance! Absolutely brilliant!

Jim, Duals: thanks for letting me steal your idea all those years ago and the thing that shall not be named!  :-*.

Oh and before I forget: The sockets plug-in (which allows AGS to connect to the internet) will be released later this year.
Thanks also to vga256 and Sonneveld for testing and porting it to Mac. Not only that, but vga256 also ported the latest AGS release to Mac in under a week.  8-0
