I loved Metaphobia so I have no doubt that this game will be great
Looks interesting! Please include 2 (in-game) screenshots in the original post please.
Very intrigued!
I love retro games. The trailer is great.
Having enjoyed Metaphobia, I am really looking forward to your next game. Is it going to be a commercial release?
Looks like this is gonna be a bumper year for Retro games.
I have high hopes for Castle Dornstein.
The more the merrier, I say.
There are no words to describe how excited I am to see & play this game. I’m playing Metaphobia for the second time as we speak, in fact. You make really amazing games. Anything retro-90’s inspired is right up my alley too!
Looking forward to seeing any updates too...love the trailer! Very mysterious.
We have been moving towards increasing Castle Dornstein's native resolution! Here is the game's lead protagonist, Hemlock's portrait. On the left is the new high res portrait while the original, low res version is on the right. Stay tuned! Art by Daragh Carroll

Hi Thanyx
If I had to make a choice between High and low res graphics for castle Dornstein,
my vote would go to low res. This artwork is far more in keeping with Retro gaming.
Also in low res your protagonist, Hemlock, has much more character. In high res he
is just er...um...egg shaped.
Please keep the Retro feel and tell Daragh to keep up the good work.
Unlike Barbwire, I like the high res portrait better.
Upgrading every asset to this resolution is no small task though.
I like them both...I can see BarbWire's point about having a lot of character with low-res, but the high-res is really nice too. I say stay with whichever form you wish to create, because it's going to be amazing to see & experience either way.
Thank you all for your feedback!
@BarbWire - I understand what you mean, but this is the ambiguity of choice, when some people like the low res and others like high res. So we basically just chose what we personally thought would fit better.
Anyway, the low res will be still present, we only went for high res for portraits and ambient details in the world. The rest of the graphics will stay low. It is a similar effect used in other games, for example Kathy Rain, where you see low res backgrounds and characters, but the portraits look like hand-painted high res pictures. So don't worry, the game will still be very much 90's retro adventure :)

There's no mixed resolution in Kathy Rain though. The portraits are indeed hand-painted, just like the backgrounds. Only the characters are pixel-art, but the resolution is the same.
Hi Thanyx
I'm sure the game will not disappoint.
High res, low res, or a mixture of the two is fine
with me. :) I know exactly what you mean.
The main thing is a story that really engages the
player and leaves them wanting more.
Best of luck to the team, with this project.

Wow, that looks great - especially the pseudo-3D scrolling effect is sensational!
Ooooo...this looks perfectly gloomy/creepy/mysterious, and I am loving it!!
Congratulations on your new trailer!! I am looking forward for more contents of your game.
Hyped for this, looking great chaps :)

Hello friends!
We just released the DEMO on Steam, please feel free to try it out and let us know what you think!
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1595390/Castle_Dornstein/
Woo hoo! I just finished playing it. It's looking really good! I'm liking all of the characters, (although by the end, I don't trust a one of 'em), and starting to get into the story. My only teeeeeeeeny criticism is that the main character walks a bit slow. Not a big deal in this demo, but if he has any large amounts of walking to do during the rest of the game, it might get a little annoying. But just a little. Otherwise, I'm loving it so far!

This is great feedback, we will certainly be taking it into account for the main game. Thank you so much!

Could you possibly share the demo on some platform other than Steam? It's not that I have anything against Steam, but it will not let me download a Windows game when it detects that I'm on a Mac.
