Title: Slay the Dragon III
Post by: TGames on Mon 14/06/2021 18:44:52
I am proud to announce that after working on and off this game since 2018, it is finally complete.
I present to you...

Slay the Dragon III

What was once a realm at peace is now under the threat of three terrifying dragons. As king, you must embark on an adventure to save your kingdom from these foul beasts.

I began working on this game in 2018 but took long gaps in production either from being busy or losing interest. However, now that it is done I am happy to share it with you. I've gone through the game pretty rigorously to catch any bugs or typos, but I am just one person. If you catch anything, let me know so I can fix it!

Well done! I hope you feel fantastic after 'a few years in the making'.... I'll download and play when I get a chance too.

I played this last night. It took about an hour and 15 minutes to complete.

My thoughts:

- Story: Slay the dragon trope, but many multi-leveled obstacles and puzzles to complete first. A number of nice surprises in the story as well. I actually expected things to be somewhat linear but there was plenty to keep the player engaged. The pacing was perfect
- Graphics, sound, animation, music, map navigation: Really sets the mood well and backgrounds are very pleasing to look at. The music was chosen well to set the stage for each area. The lava sound was awesome! There could have been a bit more animation when things happen, including when the player dies. This would have dressed things up a bit more.
- The puzzles and riddles are fun! There's a nice variety and some fresh stuff that I don't remember seeing from other games. They were challenging enough to be fun but never frustrating. I think they COULD have been a bit more difficult.
Spoiler
for example, the goblet was just sitting there. I EXPECTED the statues to come to life and stop you but I was wrong..

- Fight scenes were fun!

Overall, a really good effort and I hope others enjoy this release as much as I did.

Being a completionist (even if that's not a word!), I went ahead and played all the Slay the Dragon games. It's fun to see the development!

I agree with Shadow1000 in absolutely everything he says here. Good fun and lots to do. This makes the game quite long, even if the puzzles aren't all that difficult. Although I never would have made it through without saving! I also expected a couple of things that didn't happen:
Spoiler
Falling in love with the sultan's daughter and finding out the wizard had betrayed you.

And I think the game is all the better for it.

I realized that the Slay the Dragon III Unfinished  (https://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/site/games/game/2350-slay-the-dragon-iii-unfinished/) link now takes me to the final version. And I know I'm probably going to be the only one who asks, but is this temporary version still available somewhere? (The completionist in me feels it is his duty to ask.)

I like this game. So far, my favorite parts are the riddles. They are clever, and I like poetry so I like how they rhyme.

Thus far, I haven't successfully finished the game. I'm currently stuck.

Edit: I finished the game thanks to help from TGames. I can now give my conclusion: this is a great game I highly recommend playing!
