This time around ... in honor of Halloween, let's do a Tim Burton'esque background.
Theme: A creepy landscape (cemetary, haunted mansion, deserted street, etc.) in a Tim Burton type style.
Size: No bigger than 640 x 480
Colors: No more than 128
For reference check out movies like
Sleepy Hollow, Edward Scissorhands, The Nightmare Before Christmas, etc. to get a feel for Tim Burton's style.
The guy that I picked to win the last BGBlitz hasn't posted in awhile so I'm starting this new one. Because of this, the winner will be selected by your votes (not just mine ... though I
will be voting)
Enjoy and Happy Halloween (to those who celebrate the holiday) (http://www.twin-design.com/fafmb/graphics/smilies/smilies_wide.gif)
Hmm, actually I already did a Burton-esque background a while ago.

erm, ignore this, missed the bit about tim burton references
Umm....the winner of the blitz is ALWAYS chosen by vote.
I think I need to post the rules again...
Here we go:
I think it would be better if we voted for the winner instead of someone bring picked out by just one person. So we'll have a voting period after the end of the period so people can vote on the thread.
And two, we'll have an ongoing list of topics on a thread that people can just post thier ideas on and we'll just pick one out of there. This gives people who don't always win or participate but have good ideas a chance to contribute.
The winner gets the satisfaction of winning by vote and we'll make a gallery of the winners backgrounds.
Mmm tracing over photos not allowed, this isnt enforceable but you'll live with your conscience if you do it.
Comp ends every other midnight Friday UK time, voting until friday night. New comp begins friday evening simultanously with votes. Votes tallied saturday morning. That allows about two weeks for getting stuff done and I hope more than enough time for voting.
I know we aren't sticking to the timings or the list...but the vote thing has always been there. It seems we skipped it for the last blitz. I think its fairer to vote, that's why I started the blitz with a voting policy.
I mistook the voting like it is in the Sprite Jam ...
darthMANDARB humbly presents his toenails so he can be strung up by them for such a monumental mistake ...
Who did a trace over?
darth
i must apolagize to you all for not posting. my internet is on the fritz, in fact it died about 10 times while i tried to post this, if i enter another one of yalls contest i will post my next contest idea along with it in case something similar happens. btw thanks Darth Mandarb you pretty much picked the subject matter i had in mind, well tis the season to be spooky.

No one did...its just a rule. I'll put the rules in a more succinct form so they can be posted with every iteration. :)
Here is my entry. I hope it is Burton-ish enough.
Size: 320 x 200
Colors: 96

I feel more confident at both making small images (sprites) or modifying large ones (photshop-jobs) than at making large ones (backgrounds). C&C appreciated. Should I a-a the tree against the moon or the foreground against the sky?
Also, who gets to vote? Only those that made a bg or everyone who wants to or else?
Darn. Looks like I'm not the only one who likes trees. I guess I'll give this now and if I have time I'll do something not so "cliche".

Wanderlady, I love your tree. :D
I gotta go for Wanderlady too.. I had trouble figuring out which I liked best but then decided to go for the one that most resembles an adventure-game Background.
i go wanderlady for the same reason - it looks most like a background.
everyone's was great IMO. it would be awesome to see an actual game in those styles.
I vote for AlexisVale... Swings are scary! :o
Even tough WanderLady's is prettyful, it seems a bit too... colorful.
I vote for Wanderlady.
I vote for AlexisVale, it just seems a little more creepy!

Thank you, All. I'll try to have something interesting up shortly.
