Maybe we should all stay in the pensilvania hotel in NY city.
100 euro per night, but it was so AWESOME. (I think is met Dennis Hopper in the elevator!)

Yeah, that hotel is pretty cool.  I went to an event there just last week.

I have great memories of my stay at the 'cheap' Malibu hotel in NYC ($80 per night). I particulary enjoyed lying in bed at night, looking through the window watching 2 bums fighting eachother for their shopping carts. They even hit eachother with trashcans.  ::)

Do you know this hotel, Dave? It's located at Broadway and 103st. West.

Pessi

Petteri, I'm planning to go, once again. :P

This time I'm hoping to really really make it. I've always wanted to go to the USA and there isn't a better moment for it than this. I will try and raise enough money for the trip this time. I'm on the lookout for a job right now. Whoo.

Don't know that one.  But it sounds pretty cool.  :-D

I hope to be able to make it, even if it involves not eating and using my student loan to pay for it. And if Mr. Leksutin doesn't make an appearence this year then i'll damn well go to his house and drag him there!

Ginny: I'm only 14, I have $5.67, I cant drive, I can barely read, and the only things I am good at are making jokes and drawing. My guess is in 4 years I will have more money, out of my parents house, and have a bit more respect from the board.

plus...its pretty hard for most kids under the age of 18 to get parental consent to go see a bunch of guys they only know from the internet, and where there will be..adult beverages.

Mittens sounds like a ball though. I'll prob be up in the upstate NY area at some point during june/july, and if the dates happen to coinside, I'll stop by and say hi to everybody
word up

Heh, my parents are pot smoking hippies. I dont think the alcohol thing will be a problem. :)

Hm. Just a question: Have any girls from here been to Mittens yet?

first off i STRONGLY STRONGLY urge everyone to put the idea of spending a few nights in NYC out of your heads.

if 30 people show up there is NO WAY IN HELL you are going to get 30 people to have fun or be comfortable at all in NYC. Especially since a lot of money will be needed to come even close to enjoying yourself in NYC [by that i mean sleeping in a bed and eating food]

now i do believe because this is the US the minimum age will have to be raised to 18. the reason there is a minimum age in the first place is cause if you are a minor then that means me as the oganizer am responsible for you. so anything stupid you'd do or firecrackers you'd eat cause CJ dared you to would be my responisibility. And I Don't Want That. [and please people don't eat anything CJ gives you, he's a trouble maker and a scalliwag!]

girls? there will be at least 1 girl at this mittens but she's mine. Pesty is coming because I'll swallow her soul if she doesn't.

and since school in the US usually gets out for summer in the april through july area [i got out may 1st, hell of a summer break!] why not just keep it in the july area? it'd have to be past july 8th cause that's my sister's birthday.

As far as it being 10 days, i think that's really up to the coordinat0r who is me and if I can't get you guys to stay 10 days then it ain't happening, at least not at my camp. my father goes up to camp every weekend in the summer as his time off for the year and i don't think he'd enjoy giving up any weekends to some pale ass adventure makers like us. But who knows, if there's a reason 10 days would be better we'll see [like payments schedules for flight and some suck]

pessi, if you came i'd have to swallow your soul, not cause i hate you but because it will give me powers! powers you wouldn't believe!!

If there are other girls going, I MIGHT be able to convince my parents to let me go too. I think they'd panic at the idea of me going anywhere with only guys that I've never met in person.

I'll have to stop buying things other than food until next September to afford it, but I'll try my best to get there.
Sssshhhh!!! No sex please, we're British!!- Pumaman

Quintaros

I think 10 days might be a little much.  I figure 4 to 5 days is ideal.

n3tgraph

well, it seems like I have to save 500 euros then  :-\

Hope it'll be worth it :)

Will there be any beer, I mean, there has got to be beer right?  8)
hmm girls... are you coming Yufster?  ;D j/k

I think it's a good Idea the dutch would meet up with M0ds and the other s0ds in england. waddya say fellow-dutch?

I think 10 days is allright. What I've read of last years Mittens, 5 days was too short time.

Pessi, that's great to hear! I really hope you can go :)

Time to start saving some money...

BAH BAH What am i gonna spend my money on now? wheres an angry smiley when you need one

Andail

I'll probably go there earlier, or stay there longer, so I don't really care about the duration of the meeting. Ten days will probably work if there are arranged activities, otherwise it might get a tad too long, regardless of how long people have travelled or how much money they have spent. Then again, five days would be too short.

I also agree with the 18 years limit. It will make things easier when it comes to alcohole consumption and all of that.

I really hope Eric will manage to get some more girls there. Bringing only one's girlfriend to a party is an international crime and will be brought to Hague, or so I've read. As much as I like Eric, I would have to challange him on a deadly duel with bow and arrows and leave with his girl.

All in all, it sounds smashing

Not when the limit is 21..

m0ds

America is a long way for some of us to travel, so we thought 10 days would be a better period. I think it would. The five days went really quickly in Sweden, it almost felt like you were packing again just after you unpacked.

Plus, some people may go on to other places after Mittens, or something. But that was more of a personal preference thing.

Quintaros

I agree that if you travel all the way to NY you'll want to spend more than a few days there.  I plan to spend perhaps an additional 3 days doing the touristy thing with my g/f.  Eric makes it sound pretty expensive to enjoy NY but I figure if I travel all the way there I shouldn't chinse once I arrive.

Pumaman

I concur with Andail - 5 days was really too short, but 10 days would probably be pushing it a bit. Perhaps Mittens itself could be 7 days, which would then leave people with a week to do the touristy stuff should they wish to do so (assuming that the best flight deals are for 2 weeks, as someone mentioned).
