hello

working in 640x480 in ags i've found it VERY IMPOSSIBLE to place GUI buttons with any sort of precision or objects in rooms

i have to place the object and reimport the image over and over again until i can get it to line up because the scaling really messes with accurate placement

so basically what i'm asking is some better way of placing objects

at least allowing me to see my images at their actual size so i can place them perfectly. you have no idea how many hours i spent aligning my gui buttons so the mouse over image matches up with the pixels around it...

and all of this is encompassed by a big ol' please

You need to bear in mind that all objects are placed with 320x240-res co-ordinates, so at 640x480 you can only place them on even pixels.

But yes, an option to see the GUI Editor at 640x480-resolution has been requested before and I'll add it to my list.

speaking of this, would it also be possible to add to the GUI editor to let you set the x, y value of a control.  Set you could manual set the position of a control in a GUI.  I know you could set the width and height, but I couldn't find an X and Y

That's a good point actually, I think that's already on my list.

eric, would that also solve the problem for you if you could move the controls manually by x/y co-ordinate, or is it more a matter of not being able to see enough detail?

CJ, it is unacceptable for you to be double posting. Forshame  ;)

- No, I mean it's really STUCK. Like adventure-game stuck.

it would help very muchly indeed. it would cut down on the amount of tests i'd have to run to see if the images are all lined up. or even be able to move the buttons with the cursor keys 1 pixel at time [gui objects and room objects]

if there was still a way of displaying the gui fullscreen with buttons visible it would cut down ever more
