Wait what? You guys say "noob" (nube) instead of (newbie)? Anyway that's what it looks like you wrote.

Yes. Well, me, anyway, and I'm guess most people are the same. Of course the real word is newbie, but n00b IS written as just 'nube' as you say, so that's how I pronounce it.

I just have problem with forum names. Like I've always said Two-ma-Two and such. Heh, and I call LGM, LGM in real life. He doesnt like it.

DragonRose

Evil: But didn't you know him before AGS?

wtf?= I either read this as "wuh-tuh-fuh?" or "Doubleyou Tee Eff, Mate?" said in a very bad Australian accent.

lol= loll, as in "1 : to hang loosely or laxly  : DROOP 2 : to act or move in a lax, lazy, or indolent manner  : LOUNGE" I've just always put the word and the acronym together in my head.

omg= similar to wtf, I pronounce this "oh-muh-guh"

stfu= pronounced Stuff you

rtfm= ree-tuh-fum

Now here's a question: do you pronounce it Ay Gee Ess or ags?
Sssshhhh!!! No sex please, we're British!!- Pumaman

Evil

Heh, yes I knew him before AGS. He's actually the one who brought me here. But I talk to him more often online then in person.

MrColossal

aye gee ess, dragonrose

there's this lecture from the head of NaughtyDog about game graphics and it's really good except he kept saying "And the graphics on the SNEZZ were such and such..." and I was like SNEZZ? WTF?!?! OMG!! He means the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, the ES EN EE ES! NOT SNEZZ!! OMG OMG LOL WHAT A NEWB!! OMG

kthnx

haha! I know exactly what collossal means.

Snezz is such a dirty word, it should be killed. I mean, it doesn't sound nice, it's not even easy to say!! Just... snezzzzzzzzz. urgh! so revolting.

as for lol and such, I only use it with certain people. For example, some people I talk to on msn piss me off, so I sp34k l33t to them all the time. you know:
lollz!wtf?omgomg!roflmfao!noob!whatanoob!lool!hehehe! I'm l33ter dan u! I h8 ur Daddy-O!

and they say the same thing back, and they think they're so cool for being able to use acronyms. They do not realise how stupid it looks. And then they go ahead and add me to their buddy list. I mean - WTF?

Another thing I really REALLY hate is "heheheheheh!" That, my friends is a GIGGLE! grrr. It bugs the hell out of me when people giggle. I feel like slapping their buttocks with a mace. A simple "haha!" shall suffice: it let's the other person know you are laughing, without being all girly about it, and it saves you typing about 12 extra characters... Actually, I would prefer someone to 'lol' me than 'hehehehehehehehehehehehe' me...

EDIT: What's rtfm, DragonRose?

I answered the question you asked DragonRose.

yeah... I got that..... I could see how it could me misinterpreted. I was just kind of stunned... it seems kinda harsh... I mean, it's practical yes, but harsh.

grrr @ releasethefrogs.

I spent 15 minutes reading that! i love you.

5. You are using a computer keyboard, not a mobile phone pad - use it as such, as that saves us from deciphering what the hell it is you're trying to say. "i c you are 2 kool 4 me" style writing will result in you being beaten repeatedly with a sharp stick.

rtf

Ow! *smack!*  That stick *smack*  is sharp!

It was just a *smack!* joke!  ;)

Isn't that a little hypocritical?

If it was deliberate then I get the point, but isn't it a little unfair to be "getting someone else in trouble for it" at the same time?

I only use lol if I'm pretending to be amusing by something that I'm not really amused by, usually.
Haha!  I fucking knew it!

But anyway:

lol - el oh el
rofl - roffle, natch
roflmao - Roflamaroo
lmao - elma-aoh
wtf - double-you tee eff
stfu - stuh the furoo
omg - oh my goh!
omfg - oh my fugoh!
n00b - Noob.  I don't elongate it, or anything.  I suck.
rtfm - rage the fucking machine (I don't know, either)
1337 - Leet, boringly.

veryweirdguy

For quite some time I read 1337 as 'onethousandthreehundredandthirtyseven'. I did it deliberately in my head of course, but I never knew why.

Kinoko

I have to stand up for this one ^_^

I'm an enormous fan of the SNES, it's my all-time favourite console (maybe next to the Dreamcast) and I say "snes" (not "snez"). Saying S N E S sounds weird to me but of course, I wouldn't mind if people did that. I just don't spell it out because it takes too long, but I think whichever way is fine. I think abbreviations are always pronounced one of those two ways - spelled out or read out.

Like, personally, I saw A G S, not ags. I never thought about it before but I suppose there would be some people that say ags.

It's all cool, man!

BerserkerTails

I'm quilty of a bit of internet abbriviation. I use lol, and g2g (Much like gtg), but THAT'S IT. I swear, I'm one of the only people I talk to on MSN or AIM that use real grammar and punctuation in their chats.
I make music.
