Well, I'm not the world's greatest artist, but I am the world's greatest lover of gadgets, and I've been thinking about getting a wacom for a long time... They're actually decently priced now for an entry level board, and I was wondering if the current artists of AGS had much experience using them and hand any thoughts on their awesomeness or lack thereof. Any suggestions or warnings against purchasing one or urgings to definately do so?

Wacom tablets are really good.

So, yes.

There are many reasons why and if you want to know why I can tell you but just know that they're good.

Jess has a small one and she does amazing things with it and kicks my ass.

If you wanna hear it: Yes!

More comprehensive answer: You can't go wrong with any Wacom. A statement that IMO doesn't apply to other tablet manufacturers.

Davis, I couldn't help but notice that your location was no longer Florida.. but actually a Texas city that I know rather well.  Call it crazy.

He said so in his "welcome me back" thread, RTFF!!1

and also Davis... I don't want to imagine you making the worlds greatest love to a gadget...

I want hard evidence... so send some pictures, post haste!

You know, I read that and got this elaborate plan started in my head of taking a picture of me in a bed with the wacom box, and like, my girlfriend catching me, and then realized it would be way to much work.

So, I moseid over to wacom.com... holy crap, those Cintiqs are sweet. But, not what I need. So I'm looking at the Graphire3, and the Intuos2, and it looks like the Intuos is just more pressure sensitive? Or are there any other real benefits to spending another hundred bucks?

awesome? better than sex...

I second that...best purchase I did in ages...best gadget on my comp...beats the readon 9800 I bought a while back...but then again who needs a 9800 playing crappy adventures...;))
Though I still find it quite tedious to control windows with the wacom...so provided that you do lots of drawing ya can't go wrong on a wacom...

MrColossal

why not use the tablet and your standard mouse at the same time?

hmm yeah I still do that...But since I spent way to much behind the comps..I sometimes get this soar feeling in my arms, wrist shoulders etc...who some call RSI...so I end up doing these laughable exercises...Now with the wacom that could be prevented...more as an unforseen circumstance....so I try to avoid the mouse now.

That sure works - and the awesomeness is enhanced by the fact that most Wacom tablets have a mouse as well as a stylus - so you don't need extra space for a mousepad.

Wacom. It's better than a threesome.

Rave

NO! Wacom is wrong and evil.......because I don't have one and I'm too poor to buy one. *runs over to the corner and cries*  :'(......anyway......*sniffle* What is the deal with the mouse again? I saw comes with it, but I have a lazer mouse right now that I like just fine that plugs into my USB port. Anyone know of a good wacom thats a little cheaper without the mouse that plugs into serial port? Thats what I need.

A pen won't prevent RSI, you know. I once read somewhere that the old monks in ancient times already suffered from RSI when they've been writing those huge books. (Of course the term RSI wasn't invented at the time, heh)

But when they made those books, we're talking a couple hundred pages at least three feet square with barely a margin of empty space.  And that would be ALL the scribe-monks would do except pray, sun up to sundown. I doubt kaaZ or anyone else using a wacom is going to be doing that amount or detail of work at any one time.

and in some peoples cases.... CHEAPER

LOL I went with the 4x5 Graphire3, and dude, it rawks. My sawks. Completely off. The mouse is all but about useless, however, when you've already got any mouse better then like a two button Dell OEM. (I have the Logitech MXâ,,¢900 Bluetooth® Optical Mouse that came with my diNovo keyboard, but, who's counting.)

The pen tho is sweet! And it's got a little double click and left click button right on it! It's like some kind of faerie magick! Or magnets. Either one I'll beleive.
