Using AGS for the first time, I decided to make some tiled sprites after looking at the wonderful introductory tutorial. I did the grid but when I let go of the mouse button, the application froze! After right click-close (for some reason my CTRL-ALT-DELETE has been locked) I went to open it. But alas, it keeps on coming with the oh so awful "agsedit.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." Sorry my foot! Rebooting my PC, I decided to try again, but to no avail. I am deeply sorry if it has already been posted, but its my first time here, and I could not find it in search.
Oh, and hi, I'm 13 years old, and I promise to behave...

Is it whenever you open your game that you get the error, or does it happen when starting up the editor before you've had a chance to select a game?

Burning Zeppelin

It is whenever I open the editor.

Pumaman

Can you post the full contents of the error message that happens when it crashes?

Candle

Hit Ctrl +C at the error message and you can paste it in to notepad.

Sorry, wasn't able to just copy the error message, so I made a screenshot instead:

Hmm ok, you shouldn't see the standard Windows "agsedit.exe has encountered a problem" message, it's supposed to be captured by AGS ... this indicates that the fault is occurring very early in the startup process.

Do you see the AGS splash screen or does it crash before that?

Burning Zeppelin

Nothing appears for a while, then it just comes up.
I'm not sure what a splash screen is  ???

Gilbert

This is the splash screen:
