It's okay, but not too good. You should study some tutorials and learn how to pixel. What program are you using to draw?

oh RIGHT. I was wondering why your art was so amazing and mine sucked.
Bye bye thankyou I love you.

Thats not a very nice way to critique now is it Yodaman? ::)

As for your character [CaM], its a good first start. There are some tutorials lying around here somewhere. Just check around. I can't really offer help right now, as I am working on my game at the moment. Just practice more, and you'll create some great sprites.

BTW, welcome to the forums.

Leave the sarcasm and personal attacks for somewhere else, please!

yodaman- in the future, state what you think is wrong with the work rather than just directing them to tutorials.  This doesn't actually help at all since the person doesn't know what it is you find wrong with their art.  Also, paintovers are a good way to get through your idea of what can be improved.

As for Joe's sprite, the general shape is good.  I would say that the line work is a bit boxy (sharp lines), but maybe that's intentional.  I did an edit on the left half of the body (from us) to give you a few ideas.

1.  Added an additional color for each part as shading.  This is good because it will help to make the character less two dimensional.  If a cut out type look is what you're going for then you can avoid doing this.

2.  Cleaned up the line work.  The more rounded the shapes are the more organic they become.

3.  Adjusted the position of the shoe.  In his current position, his feet could never bend that far to the right.  Stand in front of a mirror if poses are difficult for you and try to copy what you see.

4.  Moved the eyes down the face a bit.  This makes the features more centered in the face as in anatomy, but it's more a style choice than anything.  If you prefer the eyes higher up and you can make it work, go for it.

5.  Made the colors somewhat less saturated.  This is important because really dark colors are very difficult to distinguish between, so by using more neutral, lighter colors you can apply shades that stand out.

The only other thing that I question here is size.  The character is over 200 pixels tall, which is large even for a hi res game.  You are off to a good start, hopefully this will help you get better faster.

It wasn't anyones fault but yours that time.Ã,  But whatever, I'm not going to argue with you about it. Sorry [CaM], I shouldn't have brought this into your thread.

My fault for doing what? People just flame at me for no reason, at least they used to, it's stopped some now, but they flame at me because I used to have bad artwork. I said the exact same thing as you, Rap 4 life. And [CaM], It is better to not use dark outlines on a character, try using a darker shade of the skin color/clothing color/whatever.

Ok, let's keep on topic.

A sprite size is very important... The bigger you make it the more work you'd have to do later and the more room for mistakes you'd have. Keeping strait and good looking lines in sprites that huge is hard. Try somethig smaller... Bigger sprites only mean problems for someone who isn't that dedicated or expirienced.Things just end up messy.
And one more advice - listen to ProgZmax. He is one of the top 5 spriters around.

Lookin good there, [CaM]. ;). There's a little. there seems to be a small problem with the outline on the right side, but it's an improvement.

i dont know why the outline is messing up it shows up normal on neopaint ???

does any one know how to fix this

Mikko

Somehow color [0,0,0] (black), was transparent. I changed all those areas to [5,5,5], like they were on the left side.

this is looking nice so far. Keep it up!  ;)
