a cute little problem with sound.

Hi, I thought someone here could perhaps help me a bit. I've been listening to quite a lot of pop lately, and got frankly pretty bored of it. So I thought I need some serious ramming and tried some of my heavy rock albums and notived the volume is really low.

So I'm using my headset/microphone thingie, you know, that you can easily skype with. And, hmm, I tried some other stuff too, like Jefferson Airplane and Emiliana Torrini, and it's all very quiet. Well, I thought the problem was winamp, and checked it, volume was as loud as possible. Then I thought, well perhaps it's the computer settings. So I opened the sound settings and everything is on ful volume. But I still can't hear nothing, and I'd really need some hard ramming in my brains after a month of quiet cheesy pop.

I checked that my headphones were connected correctly and the plug was all the way in. Could it be that my soundcard is somehow messed up, or is it just that I don't notice how loud the music is. I thought it could be because most of the noise doesn't stay in my headphones, they're so loose, but I tried pushing them at my ears, did nothing. I just want to ram my brain out sometimes, is that too much to ask :'(

EDIT: That and I tried setting the preamp higher on winamp and it breaks the noise without making it louder.

Is it loud on speakers?

Maybe your headphones are too quiet and are lame? Are games and stuff loud, is it just quiet on winamp?

Have you tried some bog-standard headphones? What are they like?

-Dunno, don't really play games, I shall try that tomorrow when there's more time.

Have you tried some bog-standard headphones? What are they like?
-bog-what now? I had there small phones, and they broke down because they were crappy, since then I've been using these, that and because I've been skyping.
