Hi again all,

Sorry to bother the critics lounge again, but I'm rather stuck with this walkcycle I've been working on:

I usually get the legs right, then move onto body and head and then arms, however I can't even seem to get these legs right! I've created the other two cycles (forwards and sideways) and am happy with them:

However if you can see a problem with those I would also appreciate some crits.

Thanks again for your help!

The one in black and white outline looks fine to me, now all you need to do is make the arms swing, shoulders and head boop. Bottom animations look fine too. Also if you'd add double the frames, it would look even sweeter.

I dunno, the sideways animation do make me expect his to wear a swastika and raise his arm repeatedly. It is very "marchy".. perhaps soften the joints a bit.

I saw this sprite before, but I didn`t want to give any advice before(I thought they said that)

I think you should contrast body more!
;D

The only problem I notice with the back walk cycle (and I am FAR from being an expert or even a credible source on info on these things) is that his feet actually plant to the outside of his body. Like people do when they're on roller skates. When you walk, your feet tend to plant more toward the center of gravity, which would be toward the center of your body. Look closely at his feet and you'll notice that they stay exactly shoulder width apart through the whole cycle, but when one lands it should come inward slightly, at least centering under the center of the hip. Does that make sense?

You can see the motion I'm talking about more prominently in women, but men do it too it's just not as exagerated in men. Watch a woman walk and you'll see. Runway models purposely exaggerate the maotion so you can see it more clearly.

Buckethead

In the front view his hands move a little akward. For the rest everything looks fine to me.

Hi.

I will try to point out only those "wrong things". Assume that I find everything else greatly drawn and wonderful and stuff ;)

Ok. First, the side animation:
The character is "marchy". He walks very, very weirdly, somewhat like a soldier. This is in my opinion because
1) he sticks his legs "too much in front of himself". Check out the stopped frame just after he puts his front leg down - the leg in front of him is noticably longer and too much sticking forward.
2) He is too much leaning backwards. Noone walks like this, loosen him a little.
3) His "lower torso" is not moving. I mean, his legs are moving, his arms are moving and his upper torso is "jumping", but without appropriate moving of "lower torso", it seems...weird.
4) His head is not moving. In front walking animation, it is moving, but in side walking, it is somewhat weirdly still. Creepy :D

The front walking is alright - quite hard angle to draw there and you managed to do it. What seems a little distractive is that his shouldes are "still" - at least their "top". They should be moving a little bit along with his hands.

The back view is so far good - it is hard to tell without the body moving. Maybe the legs are wigling a llittle too much from side to side....

Ok, hope some of my misunderstandable remarks help you at least bit :)

Ah - I see what you guys mean.

Now that I look at how relaxed the front walkcycle is, I can see how stiff the side one is.

I'll get to work on fixing that - and hopefully making his legs less skate-y on the back one will fix that problem. Thanks guys!
