Some games need winrar loaded to play, I have downloaded free version but I can't save any games  which is frustrating - any one give me some help

Are you trying to run the games from within WinRAR? Just as with zips, this is a bad idea. All it means is the program will extract all the files to a temporary location and delete them later. When downloading an archived game, whatever format it's in, you should first extract it to a folder, and then play it from there.

Also, 7zip unzips RARs if you don't want to have unregistered nagware

7zip FTW!  Archiving is such a trivial operation these days that you really shouldn't have to pay for it.

WinZip 11 now handles RAR files beautifully. I've since done away with WinRAR in favor of the new WinZip, which I (of course) have pirated. Aarrrrrggg!
