Personally I like to design characters, but a lot of people I know HATE to either program games or do whatever else, my cousin and one of his friends decided to pair up to make the games they plan on making[they both want to program] so one of them just designs because he wants to pair up with my cousin. I think that's weird hehe, but is anyone else doing that?

are you only doing what you're doing so you can pair up with your friend?

Mr Flibble

I don't enjoy designing, but I view it was a necessary evil in order to get to the drawing and programming, which I do enjoy doing.
Ah! There is no emoticon for what I'm feeling!

Paper Carnival

I almost always do only what I like doing, which is one of the reasons I'm so lonely so many times :'(

Dualnames

Worked on Strangeland, Primordia, Hob's Barrow, The Cat Lady, Mage's Initiation, Until I Have You, Downfall, Hunie Pop, and every game in the Wadjet Eye Games catalogue (porting)

InCreator

I never do what I hate.
Then again, I have no friends...

I'm living the dream, honestly.

I do web design as an independent contractor for a former instructor of mine from college, in addition to starting up my own business.

I love programming, even the nitty-gritty, but especially if mathematics are involved. I love the design aspect as well... I hand-drew all of the cards for the Uno clone I'm working on, and it felt good to see my designs finished.

But in regards to web design, I absolutely love the design aspect, because I'm also a creative individual (I think) who can come up with some neat designs when I put my mind to it. I am fortunate to love both sides of the coin... both game design/development, and web design/development.

It even gets to the point where I find it hard to define myself... a designer? A developer? I often think of "development" as encompassing both design and programming, so I tend to use that term. I am a game and website developer.

Once I get my business up and running and I'm my own boss, I will truly be living the dream. And once the web development side of my business is going smoothly and I'm getting some kind of good income, I'll start focusing on possibly developing games as well.
Status: Trying to come up with some ideas...

...

I compose music. I work in computer games. I compose music and get commissions from orchestras to get the pieces performed (world wide from now on! ;D YAY!). I teach music. I listen to music as well!

I have to say that I consider myself lucky that I'm doing exactly what I wanted.

Of course I also think that it takes a lot of effort to manage and twist things around, so even the things you don't like turn up to be things you do like in the end: Can't say I particularly like sound design for sfx in games (cause it's boring), or tempering with voice acting, but I have found ways to make it fun. Plus the rewards are always there!  :P
