Hey AGSers.

Since we are having a Halloween sale, i thought it would be a good thing to post a reminder about the existence of Pizza Morgana here in the AGS forums as well.

Pizza Morgana is an episodic adventure game that lets you play the charming tale of a young girl who is accidentally teleported into a magical dimension filled with monsters, vampires, faeries, and daemons, which all just happen to be employed as pizza delivery guys. what a better holiday to have it on sale than Halloween?

Now go play Pizza Morgana at http://pizza-morgana.com !

And PLEASE, give us feedback, the more constructive criticism we get, the better we can make our future episodes for you to play.

This looks pretty smart, i like the zoomed camera shots for dialogue. Might give it a go, what engine are you using?

SoundGuy

We're using Wintermute.
And i always love having the AGS vs WME argument.

I never tried Wintermute. Is it easy to code with compared to AGS?

SoundGuy

I find wintermute to be ideal for more advance game makers.
Its scripting language is pretty simple and resembles C, and most of the tools are Wysiwyg.

I would say in AGS you make the game more by clicking on checkboxes and adding stuff to dialog boxes.
in WME you would code it into the script.

I think someone once said that "AGS is for Clickers and WME is for scripters"

But to be honest, it's been over a year since i tried making anything in AGS.

WME has many advantages like unlimited screen resolutions, 3d charachers, enhancement through external DLLS, and personally i love the c-style scripting language it has.

Nah, AGS is mostly scripting too. You can't implement anything in a game without it.

SoundGuy, please educate yourself before blurting out absolutely and utterly untrue statements.

Maybe you mistook AGS for Gamemaker or something.

Don't mean to jump at you, it's just that not ONE of the facts you listed (on AGS) is right.

monkey0506

Well that might have been more true during the days of the Interaction Editor (to be fair), but since AGS 3.0 that's been gone and all interactions are managed in the script. AGS's scripting language (which I personally refer to as AGScript) is very often compared to C-style languages.

ThreeOhFour

Come on, dkh, everyone know you made a platform game in AGS and are making your RTS and FPS games in AGS by clicking boxes  8)

I personally refuse to upgrade from AGS 2.72 as later versions are missing the 'Make My Game' function, which I think is a wonderful tool for people who are less experienced with scripting such as myself.

I've seen this game mentioned on Adventuredevelopers and A Hardy Developer's Journal and it looks interesting, but I keep destroying my monthly bandwidth as it is and your game is 80mb  :(

SoundGuy

Hey Guys, I'm Sorry  for my lack of deep knowledge of AGS, Last time i used it was i think, two years ago.
But i DID use it for a while before i defected... ahhm..  switched to WME, so i think THAT counts for something.

In any case the higher resolutions and 3D are the things that tipped me over to WME initially.

While i'm not WME's creator, or even that active in it's hardcore community, If anyone cares to give it a try, i'm willing to help you familiariize yourself with it.
That said, my goal here isn't advocating for WME, but instead get your feedback on Pizza Morgana.
Especially the "non-engine specific" like story, puzzles, gameplay, dialogs, writing, music, voice, art, etc...

Shane 'ProgZmax' Stevens

I tried wintermute, and coming from a programmer's perspective I found the user interface to be abysmally constructed and tedious to use.  Also, the author has said repeatedly he will never add animated .gif support and I have no use for a program that can't support 2d (or even 3d) animations saved as gif.

AGS simply has the superior interface of the two and is easier to leap into and make things happen.  I do acknowledge that Wintermute is the more powerful of the two engines, but power is nothing without usability, and AGS has that in spades.

And since this is about your game rather than Wintermute, I'll just congratulate you on finally finishing it!
