Hi all,

I am looking for a game that has many customizable features.  i may eventually use the game for a study - if the game creator gives me permission, of course. I have not gone through all the games on this site yet. I thought it might be more useful to ask the community.

Thank you!

Can you elaborate a bit?
Are you talking about a game with adjustable settings, or a game where you can change the appearance or "stats" of characters from a set of options, or a game with a more or less open code, where users can import their own functions and graphics etc?

selenay

Sure. Basically, I am looking for game(s)fall into all three areas you gave.  What I want to do is to compare players  behaviors in all three condition. (1.with very little or no customization 2. with some customization where they may change how the character looks like from given choices etc. 3. with ultimate customization where they may completely edit their character appearance,  can import graphics etc. ) Thank you!

People don't usually seem to make games in AGS where you are able to customise every part of your player character, probably because it'd be troublesome to draw and animate.

I seem to remember being able to wear capes of different colours in the Quest for Glory 4.5 game.

There is also Infinite Monkeys which had a highly customisable GUI, as well as (if I remember correctly), the ability to wear various hats.

If you want to check out open source games, nothing can beat the DemoQuest game. I can't find an exact link, but the thread for part 3 is here.

However, please do not post in that thread asking about it!!  :P

Hah. Oh shucks, I didn't notice, it is 4 years old.

It would probably be out of date now.

Richard Longhurst and the Box That Ate Time had the phenomenal 'beard' stat.

Pity your stats didn't stay with you past the start screen  :(

Yeah, I was just gonna bring up RLATBTAT and the beard option, which by the time I played it was among the funniest moments I've ever had with an AGS game.

Generally though, AGS games don't seem to offer that much custumization. Sorry that we can't accommodate to your needs better, Selenay

It is nice to know I'm not the only one who found it hilarious  ;D

That's ok. Thank you for your recommendation. I will check it out.
