Thanks for all the input. I agree that the leg looked a bit off, what about this:

Now you made me even more curious. So my reward for your kindness to tell something is:
I'll be watching every step of you from now on, because I won't miss something about this ;D

Heh, you make me feel observed. No really, thanks for the interest, but there won't be much to show for months, as I have to work on my other projects too and don't want to start a GiP thread before most of it is done. But maybe I'll post something in the lounge from time to time (Oh wait, I did and should really get back to it).

cat

I did like the eyes in the first version better. She was looking more likeable then.

Matti

Oh, that's just a scaling thing, I didn't change the eyes at all. I always resize the image to sprite size manually, without definite values or such and thus in the end it always looks a bit different. I agree though and will copy-paste the 'old eyes' in case I can't get it right through scaling when the sprite is finished.

Yes, vector to pixel is fun, that's why I stopped using it. Which software do you use for drawing and which for animation?

Matti

Adobe Illustrator for both. I've never used any special animation program, I just draw frame by frame and put each one in a layer.

I don't really have a problem with the scaling issue, if small details don't look like they're supposed to be, I can always change them pixel-wise.

cat

Well, I guess I should give it another try (when I have some time left)

I made a sideview. The arm should more angled I guess and the bag looks a bit off too..

And I still have problems with making the legs in the front view more relaxed.

cat

She looks rather stiff in the sideview, maybe bend the arms and knees a bit?

Matti

Khris

Very nice, you might want to move up the knee a tad though. Then take that left leg and put it in the angled view ;D

Ilyich

First, I want to say that I wholeheartedly love it. Really cool, contemporary and lovable design.

As for the front view - I believe that the supporting leg should be located more to the center to be able to support the weight, and the line of the hips should be slightly scewed, so that both legs would be the same height - one of them is bended, remember, so it should appear a bit shorter.

Matti

Thanks Ilyich. Yeah, I'll fiddle around with the front view some more and see if I can get it right.

Khris: The knee should be moved up indeed, but do you still have a problem with the angled view? I think I'll keep it like it is now.

cianty

Don't have much to add but: WOW! I love her! Absolutely beautiful!

Hi Matti,

it needed time, but today I got it! Late, but it's coming ;)
There is something a bit strange in the front view, which I couldnt find out till now.

If you stand on both legs and one leg is bent a bit, the shoulder will go down on the same side.
In the pic it's the other way round. The shoulder on the side with the „longer“ leg comes down and the shoulder with the „shorter“ leg comes up.

I'm not really shure, if this is understandable, but if you stand in front of a mirror and watch, which shoulder goes down, if you bend one knee, you will notice.

In the half side-view you did it the right way.

But I need to say, no matter which one you will choose at least: She already is a very pretty one!

Tabata, I think it's supposed to be the other way around. Right now the shoulders are tilted the right way, it's just that the hips aren't. Here's an illustration from a book about figure drawing:

Also, I like the sideview the way it is now too. :)

Matti

Yes, it's supposed to be like in Ilyich's example. I moved the supporting leg a bit and changed the line of the hips. What do you think?

Tabata

Seems like I saw it, but told it the wrong way - uups - sorry ::)

Thanks to Ilyich for correcting (and also in such a friendly way - I like your style!).

I'll strikethrough that part in my post (delete would confuse the later readers of this thread).

... and however ~ Matti: Now it's looks like a perfect and harmonic frontview for me.

Hipp, hipp, hurray!   :D

Ryan Timothy B

It looks awesome Matti. I really want to play this game.

However from the front and slightly angled view, her nose and flat expression lips remind me of Michael Jackson.  Especially with the two really dark dots as nostrils.

Matti

Tabata: Hooray  :D

Tymothy: Right, i tend to draw noses simple and flat.

Better?

I like the front  and 3/4 view a lot.

My only concern is the side-view.  Not to sound sexist or anything, but her breasts almost seem disproportionate.  In the front and 3/4 view, they seem larger and fuller than in the side view.
