Alright my mistake then, I'm so used to read about Ben Jordan everywhere that I took it completely seriously that they'd try to make a Ben Jordan movie during the last Mittens. :)

Well you're in luck, then...

Not a ******* clue what you two are on about! It will be ready for then though, yes. :)

You've lost your teenager spirit, old man :)

Haha! :)

I've been concentrating on the wrong BJ's, obviously.

The teaser Trailer

Layafoo - it's taken sweet time because there's a lot more to this one than meets the eye. Lots of new twists and turns in terms of production & post. Because I've decided to pack in film making for a while and concentrate on games, this is quite a 'big' one. I owe a movie to my close friends at home as much as I do the AGS community - which is why a second movie is essentially intertwined into the BJ world (see my avatar). Woot!

It's just noon, and he starts drinking a bit later.  :D
Drinking always makes the mods into m0ds.
Worked on Strangeland, Primordia, Hob's Barrow, The Cat Lady, Mage's Initiation, Until I Have You, Downfall, Hunie Pop, and every game in the Wadjet Eye Games catalogue (porting)

Hehe, except for the journey to a Mittens, where it begins at 7am!

It'd be cheaper to be perma-drunk like you Jimbo! ;)

When I was young and naive, I was in some sort of similar event, and I needed some sellotape, so I asked everybody if they had sellotape. Except for my bad English, everything went fine: You have to know that, in French, we say "scotch" for "sellotape". So I found myself asking everybody if they had scotch. At 8am in the morning. I knew only later that everybody in the gathering thought I was a drunkard for the following week.

Well, you won't have such a problem at 8 o'clock in the morning at Mittens. AFAIR there was noone awake at this time of the day yet.

Quite often they weren't asleep though.  Believe me, my bedroom was right by where everyone chose to stay awake, being noisy :(

Alright, I found and contacted the hostel that best fits our situation. Isaac's Hostel has a 16-bed dorm and is located 350 meters from Connolly Station. We currently have 15 people for shared and 2 for private, but I suspect maybe a few more people may join so going for the 16-bed.

The room is â,¬480 for the whole weekend, so will be â,¬32 each if we have 15 or â,¬30 with 16.

A twin bed private room is â,¬140 total for the weekend.

I can go ahead and book this tomorrow unless there are any objections?

Hi Ken I can't be certain to attend the Dublin bit until I've properly found out how people are travelling back to the UK from there. But I have no objections and the price is good, and I'll certainly chip into the cost even if I don't do that bit of the trip.

Not yet unfortunately. I asked about booking all the beds at once to avoid making two bookings of 8 (the amount they normally limit per reservation). If I were to book 16 at once, they would class it as a "group" booking, which has its own set of terms and hassle.

Instead of the normal 10% reservation, they want the FULL first night paid up front, and the rest 6 weeks prior. They also want a "code of conduct" signed by a group leader and a â,¬300 damage deposit.

None of this is necessary for 8 or under, so I am looking for one more person to make a reservation with me for these dates. It is only â,¬24 to reserve 8 beds in a 16-bed dorm, with a remainder of â,¬216 due on arrival.

Anyone willing to take up the other please get in touch by email or PM.

EDIT: On second thought, I should not make the booking myself right now since my name is legally changing on May 23. I can either do afterwards or have someone else do it in my place.

Oh, I've just spotted, that I'm not on the post-mittens list. Since nothing is booked yet: I'd like to attend too :)

-edit: Just booked the flight! Wooo :D

connection woes
Oh noes, I'll arrive at 17:55 pm at Dublin Airport. Too bad that this is too late for the train to Rosslaire Strand.

I've already discovered a bus, which brings me to Wexford at around 22:00 pm, but then I'm stuck.

Anyone else travels that late? Or does anyone has a car at Rosslaire and could pick me up?

I don't know if anyone will have a car, but you might consider going to Rosslaire by taxi from there.

I used this site http://taxiregulation.nationaltransport.ie/for-users/tax-fare-calculator/ and it says â,¬20.20 to â,¬28.60. â,¬23.60 to â,¬31.80 at night

This is also good to know if we want to go to Wexford during the week.

abstauber

Before I camp at the bus station, I'll consider a taxi ;)

I just saw there's a Musician special at this Hostel which means that I can stay for free if I play music there :)
good to know.. though I don't know if I want to travel with my guitar.

Gotta get a move on. except for the Villa , we got nothing else booked  :o
We are planning to get to London, spend a few days there and then meet up in Ireland.
Does anyone know what's the best (and chippest) way to get from London to Wexford?

I assume people will be taking laptops?

I need to record some audio while at Mittens, if anyone would be so kind as to volunteer use of one.

I will bring my portable wave/mp3 recorder, it has a built in stereo microphone and records up to 24-bit/96 kHz .wav and 64-320 kbps .mp3

This will be good, a bit like Chrille's one? What are the recording levels like? My mini-disk recorder was rubbish, you couldn't set the recording level higher than 5 max, yet it really needed to go up to 20 to over power the recording volume and find somewhere acceptable in between.

I ask because dubbing for the movie is going to be absolutely essential at Mittens, and if someone is bringing a half decent laptop with CD drive that I can install Premiere on, and a decent audio recording device, I will get it finished there and then. It will still be watchable even if I can't do a little bit of late night editing there but some scenes really need new dialogue audio and the right people are going to be at the event :) I'm aiming to lock the visuals by Mittens, finish audio and give you guys the premiere at Mittens, then take it to the local cinema and internet release by the end of September.

Disco

My recorder is this: http://www.rolandus.com/products/productdetails.php?ProductId=1077

It records directly to SD. The screen shows recording levels and there is an LED peak indicator so you can quickly find the right setting.

On the back there are switches for mic gain between high and low sensitivity, and a low-cut switch that makes the recorder ignore low frequency sounds like wind, breath, and machine hum.

It should work fine for doing BFJ dubs!

Monsieur OUXX

HEY! I *live* in Dublin, I hope you didn't count me in the dormroom.

AGA

What's going on with the hostel thing now?  Exactly what sort of times and dates are we looking at for that anyway?  I should really look into actually getting to Mittens...
