I took my friend out to the movies on saturday for his birthday.

I dug it, not bad for a digital character, and the scene transitions were very interesting.

Anyone else have any thoughts on it?

I haven't seen it yet, but......

From the previews it seems like they switched up the story pretty bad.....Please tell me they didn't screw it up too much...

c.leksutin

no, they dont butcher it too much, they just expand on the ideas that were layed out in the comics, they just add a few extra steps to make it a bit more modern.

I thought it was going to be a digital crapfest..

But it wasn't! I like it alot. Very interesting direction style, and I liked all the comic-book effects.

Some of the dialogue and character structure was a little confusing in the beginning, but I guess it was okay.

Also, the scene with the mutant dogs was too dark and incoherent. I couldn't tell what was going on half the time.

Some parts were really unrealistic (Besides the fact that he can turn into a big, green monster.. then morph back into human form without any abnormalities.. I mean, a molecule or two is just liable to be misplaced with that big of a restructure.) But, it felt too PG-13. But It's cool how they got the point across that Bruce never killed anyone, well.. Intentionally. Also, the whole tank thing was over-the top..

But over-all, this was a really good film. Well worth the 8 bucks. Nice CG effects, up there with Gollum in LOTR:TTT. CG has been kindof a crutch in films lately, but this movie wouldn't of been very good without the aid of 3D. Unlike the new Star Wars film.. That whole movie could be CG less and be a helluva lot better..

Anyways, I'm done now.. Go see the Hulk and be happy.

I've read reviews that say it's better than your average comic book movie -- it explores issues, etc.

However, I have to wait until it gets released on Thursday.

It's already out at the Ioka.  I just have to walk down the street and voila.  But, I'm not going to see it unless I am given some reason to.  I never saw The Hulk comics and the preview wasn't too inviting.  What do you think, C?

I'm going to see "28 days later".  Anyone else?

In my opinion: 28 days later is going to re-invent the zombie movie.

Robert: if you need a reason to go see the hulk, I'm giving you one right now: It kicks more ass then bruice lee fighting a one leged man.

I was extremely disappointed in the Hulk.

After about 55 minutes of boring dialogue and weak character development I leaned over to my date and politely asked, "Isn't this movie called The Hulk?"  Where the hell was the hulk?

Now the CG of the hulk was top notch (except for his pants ... they looked stupid).  The hair, eyes, and especially the muscles, looked amazing.  But, in my opinion, the story was weak, the acting was okay by some, the special effects were (for the most part) great, but in the end ... the movie was frickin' boring!!

Jennifer Connely is stunningly beautiful, so that made it somewhat tolerable.  But, and this is no joke, if there wasn't some dumb kid sitting behind me constantly tapping his feet I might very well have fallen asleep.

I thought it was damn brilliant.

They absolutely nailed the emotion behind the character.
There's this one scene in particular where the Hulk has just smashed the hell out of some things and then he turns back into Bruce and he's on his knees in front of Betty and says something along the lines of 'I smashed them!' and he almost loses it again. Like, he's just a breath away from hulking out again. It was incredible.

Also you just feel so bad for him. It's like, on top of dealing with being the Hulk, he's got the whole world coming after him. He's like a child, but he's alone and confused.

I don't know, maybe it's just me, but that's what I got out of it.

edit: The tank scene was a life changing experience. The rage and distruction... wow.
       Again, just me.

The only thing disappointing about the hulk movie was there wasn't enough HULK! ... forget the story. I want to see more tank smashing goodness! :)

Darth Mandarb

rodekill - The tank smashing scene was very cool I agree.  And I think Eric Bana did a great job with the emotion of the character.

I just still thought it was far too boring ...

I've given it some thought and I think had I known going into see it that it wasn't an all out action film, but more of an emotional character driven story, I might have not been so bored.  But I was expecting more action.

I don't know, but when I watched the TV ad, the Hulk was TOO fake, it was terrible IMO. And since it's another Hollywood movie directed by a Chinese, I probably won't like it.

I think that Ang Lee is from Thailand.

I wonder I could get Bana out of a Full Frontal context.

I always thought exactly the same, until I saw Chopper, I thought he would always be typecast as pioyta (how ever you say his way of saying peter)

He's actually a tallented actor, although I haven't seen any of his Hollywood one's yet but I might see the Hulk, although I've heard the transformation is a bit poor, going from a real human to a 3d graphic, The review I heard said the transformation in Hollow man was far more superior, but I guess I have to see to judge for myself.

DGMacphee

Chopper rocks.

As for the transformation, the question is will it be better than the Bill Bixby-Lou Farringo transformation.

That's the REAL test!

Hmm, Eric Bana was just on Rove Live. I should go out and see the hulk. But then again, i should go and see the matrix reloaded.

c.leksutin

Eric Banna was in  "Black Hawk Down", a rather major roll in fact (if you havent seen the movie, you should).

As for "did the hulk look real enough" I say this:  It's based on a comic book, a comic book about something totally UNrealistic, this isn't like spiderman, batman or superman, who are basically still people, just with fancy powers and nifty suits.  I refuse to compare it to the TV series, as lou F. looked 100 times less like the hulk then the CG did.  I read the comic for years, and the hulk in the movie was closer to what was put on the page IMHO.
