I liked a lot of Metallica's songs before this new stuff, partly because I'm a guitarist and I quite appreciated their technical ability and capacity to cook up some nice solos. But now that seems to have gone out the window and besides that their new sound is not pleasing to my ear. It really grates to hear what they have done to their sound now...I won't be touching that album.

I never liked matallica a whole lot, thought I liked the Dave Mustane songs (he's with Megadeth now, obviously). I allways thought the singer ( James Hetfeild, I think..) was a horrible singer.

Well I saw the second half live show of the live show on MTV yesterday (and intend to catch the first on a rerun), and enjoyed it.

The songs, even the older ones, really do not sound as good as they used to to. But, fuck me, it's still Metallica, and it's still Ulrich, and it's still One, and it's still Puppets, and it still sounds well. Very very well, in fact. My only two real points of criticism is that Hammet's lead guitar sounded much too high at times, and that Hetfield's vocal performance was way below average.

My friend got the albim when it came out. He thinks that its cool, but i guess he is a bit tryhard. I'll borrow it off him and see if i like it.

I downloaded some songs, and I do not like what I hear. Will give more comments when I hear them all.

By the way, there's a short instumental in the new ablum (Invisible Kid).

I don't really think the new CD is anything like their old stuff, like "ride the lightning", "For whom the bell tolls", or "One".  But if you want my personal opinion... I didn't like it (granted I haven't had time to listen to the entire CD)  I kinda thought the first song was a little too repetetive... kinda like that song by Kiss... "I wanna rock n' roll all night, and party every day" <repeat>

Don't set high hopes. It's very short, nowhere near Call of the Ktulu.

Edit: I think I heard all now (or almost now). I am afraid that St. Anger is the best piece from that album.

Yeah, I wasn't too impressed either with St. Anger. Heh, and to think how much they hyped it up to be there best album yet.

I tried giving it a chance twice, and I still don't really like it that much. They've said that they are going back to their roots, but to me it really doesn't sound like their old stuff...there was no kick-ass guitar and totally kick-ass solo, it stunk.

Any of you listen to Eddy Trunk? Heard of him on the radio?
Anyway, he plays a lot of old metal and last weekend he played St. Anger for the first time. Before he expressed his views on it, he wanted to hear what the listeners thought, so he took calls. I guess the operators took 20 calls and Eddy asked what the results were. Out of the twenty callers, none of them liked it. One of the callers was even an album producer and he hated it, he thought it shouldn't even had been recorded, lol.

In any case, I don't hate the song, I just don't like it. Who knows, it might grow on me after a long time, but I doubt it :)
