Darth Mandarb

It's funny ... I downloaded AGS and was using it (and visiting these forums) for quite a few months before I ever downloaded and played any AGS made games.

The first one I tried was the King's Quest VGA.  I didn't want to play other people's games, I wanted to make my own!!

It wasn't until I got involved in this community that I started caring about other's games.  Man I'm one selfish eff-dash-dash-kay ;)

Um, I think the first game I played was probably Permanent Daylight or Uncertainty Machine... I found AGS because of I believe, Darth Mandarb, that is if memory serves me right and he created the old AGI Star Commander demo. :)

Gobliins 2. Jesus, I still havent finished that game, and that was 7 years ago.

Robert Eric

Demo Quest.  Or the Space Quest 4 done in AC.

QuoteI remember I was really impressed with both, and wanted to make my own Sci-Fi/Comedy game

Hehe, yeah. After seeing Floyd I really wanted to make a game in AGS.

Four years later...

Larry vales...I got it off of bhlegend.com before I new about AGS(Thats where I learned about it) 8)

Goldmund

Slacker Quest.
It was a nice experience because it has a storyline and characters quite different from the cliche. More life-like. And although it was quite a simple game from the modern WindowsAGSPluginSystem point of view, I still remember it with fondness.

I *think* the first game I played was this game in German someone made for a class or something. It had a goofy-looking character I think got used by Visy later, and photograph backgrounds, terribly converted to 256 colors. I believe this was several eons ago, some time before the Yahtzee epoch. I don't know if there was much of anything made before this game. I wonder if there's any way to recover the very very first stuff made with AGS. Would be fun for a trip down memory lane and all.

For me, either Rob Blanc or Larry Vales -- Can't remember which, but I think it was Larry Vales.

I played Rode Kill first, or perhaps perminent daylight, but didn't know they were AGS games then.  I first downloaded AGS after playing QFG4.5

Well my first AGS game was Larry Vales 1. I had played the demo game before, but that doesnt count as a propper game I think. Larry Vales 2 was the second game, and I was greatly impressed by it, and by that time I knew AGS was for me. This was probably around 3 years ago, with 2.2 being the version of AGS i first downloaded.

It was LV2 which influenced me the most I think. I really loved the art in that game, and when I tried my first game I tried to emulate that style. I sort of did, but since I've never finished a game yet, you won't get to see it. I really wish phil would come back and finish LV3, but he's probably too busy enjoying his fame...

Quest for Glory 4 1/2, or Night of the Hermit were the first games I played I think,  but there were also some smaller games that I found which had just come out, they may have been before but I'm not sure: Sam the Pirate Monkey & Who Killed Kenny Rogers.

I'd tried AGI first, then SCI, then found AGS, played a few games, then created a game before even joining this forum as only Geeks use forums.

I'd been using AGS on and off for over a year before I gave in to the nerdiness & decided to use the forum.

Now it doesn't seem so nerdy to me as everyone seems pretty normal, but I think that's because you've all dragged me down to your level. :P

I'm a late comer.... It was 5 days a stranger.... Someone posted something about it in a RM2K forum I moderate, I checked it out and remembered how much I loved those games back in the day....

Since it said it was made with AGS I did a search... found the website... .downloaded, began to create genius!

BRILLIANT!!!

piraatlife4me

Pleurghburg was my first.
That gave me more than enough inspiration to start making my own ags game.

Night of the Hermit. Looking at it's files, I figured out that it must've been made with some adventure game creating tool, and fortunately my assumptions were correct.

Pet Terry

I'm not sure about the first game... it was either Rob Blanc 1, Lassi Quest or House Quest.

At that time I thought all the AGS games looked like those, so at first I didn't want to use AGS at all :P

GarageGothic

Whichever was first posted on The Underdogs. Larry Vales probably, which didn't impress me. In fact, I don't think I ever found the first puzzle at the time.

Later, I played Pleurghburg and discovered AGS, which was DOS roomedit back then. I messed around a bit, but didn't like working in the 320x200 resolution. I don't think I played anything else until KQ2VGA, which really got me hooked on AGS (now a windows program), and that's about the same time I signed up for the forum.

Migs

I think I played Larry Vales 1 first, then KQ1VGA, then Pleurghburg.  Nothing else matters.
