In spanish, the "U" between the "G" and "Is" and "E", makes the "G" sound "liquid"... To explain you how it sounds in English, we could say it's something like "Ghee".

Likewise with German. "Gui" spoken with a German inflection sounds like "gooey" in English.

I say G.U.I I've never known how to say it. But when i see BRB written by somone i always say birb. and for gifs i don't say 'jif' i say gif! Like Dues Ex my friend says it some funny way when he said it i said wtf?!?!? thats not how you say it. Well i've been talking too much....

I don't like saying acronyms as actual words. People usually look at me funny when I say brb and gui as berb or gooey, so I just say the letters. You don't hear people say "Ussah" for USA.

i say gooey, which i thought and still find right

as for gifs... i thought everyone called it a jif, not gif, like gift. not until my second year of college in Flash class. I felt like an idiot, but i dont think ill break my lock on calling it jif. unless i get an art job and everyone starts calling me 'peanutbutter' or something.
