The sprites are from various arcade fighting games (which I never played, nor  know the names).

How do you figure out how to do the spells?

the main way is by looking at certain places, and being atentive (look at the pile of rocks in the alley. But that's not the only way

Yay completed it , nice little game , but I think the spell system confused many people to begin with, but once you know what to look for and how it works its top!

Very nice. I just started playing it. You say the sprites are rips, so, does that mean the backgrounds are your own work? Wow. hehe, even if they are rips, the whole mix in this game is very cool! It really shows that low resolution doesn't look all that bad, when done well :)

The scaling looks very good too. i like the 'bridge' screen where you look small, even if it still walks as fast as in normal scale (we all know about this). Still, at least i don't have to wait for them to craw to the next screen.

I'll try to finish the game and give more feedback and vote and stuff :)

I just finished the game and two thumbs up to you Jrp for this game =) however, i failed remembering seeing an alley in this game...wasn't it part of the criteria?

But i love the overall atmosphere the game brought, especially the twist

Just finished it- it plays great (game-play mechanics kind of reminds me on Loom). Also the mix of graphics really works here!

God! is this game that hard? Everyone seem sto be asking for hints!
I was worried is was going to be too easy, as I didn't have time to add all the estras tuff I was planning to. =P

I think its easy, but as I say its just getting used to how to use the spell system and realises what to look for, the only semi-hard puzzle was the cat, but that was really a matter of proccess of elimination on the wolf screen for me..

I'm stuck,can't open the door where the girl is. I have 3 spells I haven't used - the one that looks like an F, the Scythe spell and the Hot spell.

What do I do?

P.S. Maybe NOW can you release a walkthrough for Exile, I hate to not being able to finish it!

Yeah Jrp, you needn't worrie, the game is relatively easy and the hardest part was getting past the dog-boy

I knew the starting intro of ' magic is everywhere and pay attention to the surroundings ' thingy was important

Swell game, however it crashed in the end. Something about a malplaced GUI. It was surely an interesting way of using fighter sprites

Btw, some of the spells are kind of hard to get, as you don't know if they're on the left or right. The F and the

the ambiguous spells (like the F) work either left or right.

The bacgrounds are from Heavy Metal 2000, Starwars art concepts and the JLA pilot.

It was in the end. I killed her and then there was a cutscene where he walks back with the spell to some boss. He said that everything had turned out as the boss had foreseen, and then it crashed, saying that the GUI placement wasn't inbetween 0,0 and room_width, room_height. I played in lowres, does that have anything to do with it?

Hint:
Check inside the dome and in the same screen you  started in.
Also you may have overlooked a spell in the process.
(I know I did until I smacked myself)
