Space Quest: Vohaul Strikes Back (SQ fangame)

We've been working on VSB for some time now, getting through creation of background images, sprites, GUIs, sounds, music, cutscenes, dialog, plot, etc., and I'm about to start actual coding (I've been tinkering around with it the whole time, but have been waiting for the plot, dialogues, and everything else to be nearing their finish before really getting into it).

So, here's the basic specs...
32-bit color; 800x600
Sierra-like GUI
MIDI and/or digital (OGG/MP3) music
Speech & text

EDIT: Also, here're the two in-game screenshots (which suck and are rather old - they even have the old 3D characters and a lame GUI-but I suppose still count

The first was part of an example for a recommendation to make the sprites smaller to begin with:

And the second was to show that there was still a white border around the characters, no longer a problem since AGS now supports alpha transparency (which again shows how old these are):

If other screencaps are needed, I suppose I could get some others going, but I don't want to give the new GUI away too soon otherwise.

Interesting ...

I like the robot.

Roger's animation is super good, you could probably cut out a lot of the those frames and it would still look good.

His face ... well ... it looks like he's holding back vomit or something.Ã,Â I would suggest working a little on the expression.Ã,Â (it says 'old' animation ... so maybe that's aleady changed?) And ... is he wearing sandals in space?

I'm always up for a new Space Quest game!

Yes, a bit of him has already been changed.

And he is wearing sandals...he's on "vacation".

Yeah, it looks good pcj. I've been wanting to see VSB's Rog for a little while now....but when do we get to sneak a peek at Vohaul?

Anyways, I agree with nearly everything DM said, though I'm not entirely sure if Rog looks like he's losing his lunch.

Edit: Rog looks a bit muscley (sp?)...was this intentional, like in TLC?

Possibly, but his clothes are pretty much as you see them; he might change clothes sometime in the game, though.

Hey, all right! A Space Quest fangame that actually looks good

Roger looks hunkalicious, although his facial expression looks kind of scary. Vohaul needs some more detail, but his facial structure is perfect.

That's a rather early version, as it's been stressed before...the blue will be in the final.

Very nice work there. There should be more Space Quest games around. I'm really looking foreward to this one, tho you need to fix up the whole rogers face thingy and also Vohaul looking quite rediculous. Well thats my opinion. Like his suit is just hmm... well he's got quite big breasts.

We'll have a dial-up friendly setup downloader.Ã,Â The setup will only download and install the components required plus the components you choose. You can then download the optional components later if you choose. Otherwise, text boxes will stand in for the cutscenes and voice-overs.

Those sprites are now outdated.

We don't want to give too much away by providing too much detail; this is just to give a sample of the game's style.
