Hi guyz,
How r u all. Its been like 6 months since i left this wonderful community. But i just couldnt stay out for long. The AGS community is the best I have seen tilll now ( and i am not just saying it I MEAN IT). I have learned a lot in these months. I have been making a mod for Max Payne titled The Matrix Revolutions
(and its still under production. besure to check its site :
www.3dactionplanet.com/maxpayne/matrixrevolutions )

I was a 3d animator for that. And now I am back to start a whole new project. A 3D adventure game.
I know its lame to post about it now without screenshots but I just wanted people's opinion. A game in 3d is it better? Although I myself like MI2 types of gameS(and played it 100 of times. YEs 100).
I know the board masters will be damn angry with me. I am posting it without pics or info and they will probably lock it but please forgive me.

I have a project in mind. A detective type of story whose family is killed( yeah i am a diehard Max Payne fan.) the strong point of it will be the Animations and the 3D art (including lighting) and story. So what do u think guyz?

I am again sorry that I am posting it without pictures and i dont mind if this gets locked. After all i am posting it against the forum rules. Sorry again.

Nothing wrong with 3d as long as it's done properly (doing 3d because it benefits art style or something, not just doing 3d because you can.)

Ofcouse, at the moment, AGS only supports 2d sprites, so you won't actually be using 3d, kinda. :p

Well ... it sounds more like something that should have been posted in the CL ... so maybe it'll just get moved, rather than locked!

Max Payne (though I've never played it) does have an interesting (if over used) story.  I'm sure it can translate into a AG.

Me personally ... I'm not a fan of 3D games.  I prefer 2D, sprite driven, hand drawn type games.  But there are a few 'round these parts who like the 3D aspect of adventure games.

Oh and welcome back.

I think it sound like a pretty decent plan.Ã,  As longs as you have the initiative to make the game.Ã,  A lot of big games like this usually die out, but when they don't, they are a treat for everybody.Ã,  :)

Also, I don't want to sound like a moderator, but the Adventure-Chat Forum, or Critic's Lounge would be better for this.Ã,  They probably won't lock it, just move it.

A game in 3d. is it better?

Personally, I like the old-fashionded, 2D look (for adventure games), but I've played some adventure games that used 3D models that I really liked.Ã,  With 3D art, I'm kind of a "don't know art, but I know what I like" person.Ã,  You should try it.Ã,  :)

I fail at art.

Thanks guys for your opinion. And i dont know how to move this post so if the moderators will please move this post to the critics lounge.
I think AGS is a very powerful engine. Although it can use 2d sprites but still u can put the effect of everything made in 3d. So i think first ill write out the main plot for a demo and see peoples opinion about it and then if they really like it make the full game.

Loki_Turak

i dunno 3d work may be possible on ags, but it would require extensive work, and alot of background modelling animation... then again i could be wrong
