Makes you think about the possibilities of using optical illusions in adventure games. :=

I thought, at one point, about making a game involving those Magic Eye things.  You know, those little bits of nonsense mixed up pictures that if you look at just right, turn into 3D images.

I thought about using one as a puzzle (i.e. examine the painting on the wall, knowing that Mr. So-and-so likes to hide his computer password/safe combo in plain sight) or about doing a whole game with rooms in 3D... but then I saw something shiny.  And you know I can't resist...  Ooh, what's that?!?!?

Also, autostereograms simply don't work on many people (e.g. myself) with certain sight defects, such as astigmatism. Personally, I'd be careful about puzzles that rely too much on lack of physical disabilities, though I guess if someone did this they could supply the information elsewhere. Admittedly, if you did a whole game this way, it would be a neat gimmick; and I have no right to tell you not to make something just because I couldn't play it. :)

Well, at the very least we could get neat effects. :D Such as the "burning fuses" illusion, or other contrast illusions.

Oddly, I can only get those magic eye/autostereogram things to work if I look at it on a computer screen. I only found that out about 3-4 months ago as well.
I think there was some mention of using optical illusions in games before - possibly in a GTD? Possibly I just imagined it, though.
I know what you're thinking ... Don't think that.

Heh. No you didn't, if you're talking about the anaglyph images/3D glasses. I started that thread. Does anyone see a pattern? ::)

@TheFrighther. Am I missing something. I didn't see the letters moving at all.

Click'd

Of course they didn't move. But to me it looked like they did.

That&s what I mean. They don't even look like they're moving to me. Not in the slightest. I just tried watching it on full screen on my laptop as opposed to on my phone, and still I can't see the effect... :-/

Hey, I'm not the one who did the video! :-D

Maybe not all the people react at an optical illusion in the same way. It's a psychological matter.

For example I don't understand this picture:

Oh this one's cool. I like these ones that you have to do a little mind flip to see it differently.
