Radiant: interesting choice by Marillion. I'd go with the whole of Misplaced Childhood, personally.

That's also great music, although I prefer Clutching at Straws. Have you been to the recent Childhood Revival tour? It was really good!

Helm

No... I guess Fish is back on board? I don't think I care for reunion tours.

Not a reunion, Fish happens to hold copyright to the songs he wrote (that means, just about all of them) so he's performing them.

Helm

As important as I consider Fish, Marillion is also Stever Rothery and everybody else. I don't want to hear some other guitarist play the leads in Blind Curve or Kayleigh. Also, Fish is in another place, it's not honest to try to speak from the point of view of Misplaced. It's been 20 years.

A shame all-around
WINTERKILL

Radiant

That is true, but for the lack of a time machine, I'll take it.

Petra

I really do not want to "doublepost " once again in my life..

And I Did not!!!!

But today I ordered a ticket for Mew..

On May 1st in Coiogne....

Let's  see what will happen...

Helm

I suggest you get a livejournal or myspace page.
WINTERKILL

Petra

Ok,

Ok I will never again post to this forum..

ManicMatt

Well, you could at least tell us your myspace or livejournal page... if you got one.

(And Helm is an evil genius anyways so don't pay much attention to him)

I like power metal and I think Theocracy are ridiculous.

I respect that you don't like them, but why ridiculous? It's far from ridiculous. The first  (and only, so far) album is full of emotion and was all written, performed, recorded, mixed by one person alone, and while this does not guarantee quality it shows a lot of talent and devotion. You don't like the lyrics either, apparently, seeing how they're christian and all, but putting the message aside, the lyrics are poetry (unlike stereotypical Christrian stuff).

Anyway, Petra - nobody told you to quit, just not post excessively as if this is your own forums. I suggest you get a members account where you can edit your existing posts.

ManicMatt

Ooh i didn't know guests couldn't modify their posts!

Doesn't Helm call anything rubbish that he personally doesn't like?

It is my pleasure to enlighten you sir, though you were not the target of my generous offer of divine knowledge. Petra was the target, because my pirate insticts told me there's a possibility he might not have known that fact.

And I really have nothing better to do other than paying attention to what Helm says about the music I listen to.

Oz

Rock = The Hellacopters.
Diversity is divine!

Helm

Petra: Ok.

Guybrush, I find them ridiculous as I find most third wave power metal bands that ape bands-that-aped-prime-helloween. They do not stand out in any way for me, from that sort of sorry lot. Very derivative, not convincing. The music is boring too. What can I say? The big issue is, I know this music very well for the Sonata Arcticas and the Theocracys to have any effect on me. When you've heard and enjoyed the types of Jag Panzer's "Ample Destruction", Omen's "Battlecry" or Warlord's "The Cannons of Destruction Have Begun" for the bigger part of your youth, the later sort of derivative stuff doesn't appeal much. I haven't heard a decent modern power metal band since Nevermore entertained the style back in Politics of Ecstasy.

I don't mind the christian message at all. Two of my favourite bands are Savior Machine and Candlemass (from Nightfall and onwards they're positively white) and I do enjoy a lot of white power (haha, oops!) metal bands you wouldn't know like Veni Domine, Seventh Avenue or even prime Stryper. If people believe fervently in something, usually that sort of conviction captures me, be it belief in gods or devils or whatnot.

And yes, of course this is all my opinion, I don't claim to objectively be able to determine what is ridiculous and what is not. I am neither evil, nor a genius, and would appreciate it if ManicMatt would put a lid on it.

Paper Carnival

Of course I know Veni Domine, Stryper and Seventh Avenue ;D. I don't know a lot of bands though, and I don't know anyone where I live who listens to any metal other than Metallica, Iron Maiden, Iced Earth, etc. My only source of good music is people I know online.

I heard some Jag Panzer before, they're good but never was much into them. My tastes changed since then, so I'll give them another chance. If you could recommend an album, what would it be? I guess I'll include them in my list next time  I order music cds.

Helm

You won't find Ample Destruction on CD. And the vinyl pressing is insanely hard to find and costy. Ebay might help, but I can only say good luck. A good Jag Panzer cd is 'The Fourth Judgement', probably their best, really.

Find and buy Heir Apparent - Graceful Inheritance if you can. And Manilla Road's The Deluge.
WINTERKILL

xenogia

Catch 33 is a pretty below-average album to begin with.  I can't believe Meshuggah won a grammy for that album.  Its saying something about the grammy's though .. lol

Ozzie

Mew is a cool band, not only because they are good but also in terms of atmosphare, it's 80ies, synthie pop, but not cheesy. Okay, I only know one song from them, but it is really hard to get it out of your head, as long you got accustomed to the strange rythm...."special"...
Robot Porno,   Uh   Uh!

ManicMatt

I have both Mew albums, and I wouldn't describe them as synth pop or eighties style! But atmospheric, oh yes.

Had to butt in there because I felt your description was        mis-leading.

Both albums are great Ozzie, and they both have different sounds to them too!

Al_Ninio

"Both"?
Mew has released four albums...
