Does anybody know what happened with this game.
It was mentioned in The inventory a few months ago(end 2004 begining 2005).
But now it just vanished.

Google would disagree with you.  Ask them.

Well, the last time I checked with the author's forum profile he haven't been online for a very long time and therefore haven't updated it either. Joseph Di Perla said something about it but I don't remember what. I too, feel so sorry that the game haven't been finished. I looked foward to it after that Lucas Arts cancelled Freelance Police and was disappointed when it was turned down due to lack of updating. Let's hope that someone will try to make a Sam & Max fangame, especially as good as The Gilbert Case (Case Gilbert doesn't make any sense to me or others) seemed to be. Myself I'm thinking about one for the future but for now, I'm focusing about Caribbean Mysteries and the next game.

Yeah, Its safe to say that its not in the works anymore. I havent heard anything from the author, so thats my impression. Sorry for the bad news. But hey! I am sure someone will continue to make a fangame at somepoint.

But on the other hand, they still have a working site about it with nothing new that I can see. Go here: http://digilander.libero.it/bisland/s&micg.html

I've recently contacted Marco Masini. That's what he told me about this project:
1) Case Gilbert is NOT abandoned. The project was stopped due to the legal worries, but now LucasArts doesn't own the rights to Sam and Max, so Mar85's team has re-opened it;
2) The game will be divided into 2 separate parts, but their release dates are still uncertain;
3) A new demoversion with new screens is planned, but it also doesn't have a definite release date.
Sorry for digging up this thread, but it's not forbidden in "Adventure-related talk and chat"; anyway, I can't find any reason to start a new topic instead of using that one.

Nothing more to say about this.

/EDIT: Well, in this case, it's probably slightly different... still, bumping after two years DOES qualify this thread for a "::)" smiley.

People are welcome to bump threads in the AGS Talk & Chat forum, esp if it contains new news/information!! :)

Well, it would seem hilarious, but the game is still not dead. As I was told by Marco in his latest email, the project is currently on break because of both lack of time and Telltale's active attempts to resurrect the franchise (he's somewhat concerned by legal issues, though unlike LucasArts, Telltale has never shut fanprojects down).

He says he still plans to finish the project, but doesn't know when it will be.

Tell him that at best he'll just receive a cease and desist telling him to stop making it, that's it, he won't get sued. Fangames get in trouble when their creators contact the rights holders or start hyping the shit out of their project until it's picked up by mainstream news outlet, if their biggest fans are not aware if the project is still alive, I doubt Telltale or Steve Purcell are aware either. Case Gilbert could be out for months before they notice its existence, at which point there's not much they'll be able to do to stop it.

If he's still paranoid, all he has to do is change the title, not put his name in the credits, and upload it from an internet cafe or something.
