This Year - The Mountain Goats

Especially the chorus...

I am going to make it
Through this year
If it kills me

My mantra, especially in the last few months. Kept me going. And made to the end, happy, healthy and looking forward to '06!

Helm

QuoteThey sound like doom metal bands, or maybe something like cathedral/autopsy?

cathedral.... autopsy?? Cathedral used to play doom metal and now play stoner rock, autopsy played awesome filthy death metal about frying your brain or burying you alive, and they both have nothing to do with the generic silly power metal of bands like Demons and Wizards.

ManicMatt

Ah, right you are Helm. My memory of them is pretty vague, considering I haven't heard their music since the early nineties!

But I'll stick with me pitchshifter!

Paper Carnival

Come on now Helm, power metal isn't that bad...

Helm

power metal is quite excellent. Crimson Glory, Heir Apparent, Omen, Jag Panzer, Stormwitch, Gargoyle, Cirith Ungol, Manilla Road and the like.

Demons & Wizards on the other hand, are simply manufactured bullshit for people who don't care for passion, vision and honesty in the music they listen to.
WINTERKILL

Paper Carnival

I do agree that Demons & Wizards is lame, and with the exception of the songs I mentioned I hate that album. If this wasn't about 2005, D&W wouldn't be included.

You should try being a bit more kind towards people. You hurt my feelings you asshole >:(

DoorKnobHandle

I usually don't like mainstream-songs by bands, that are way more experimental from their origin, but... those lyrics are just completly genious and always able to make me shiver:

Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here

We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl year after year.
Running over the same old ground,
What have you found? The same old fears.
Wish you were here.

I guess you must have listened to that song and actually connect something with it, to feel what I am talking about...
