Yo there  ;D

The new contest is "Videogame remixes!" :)
Just pick your favorite videogame song and try to remix it. What is a remix? Basically your own interpretation of the song, may it be just a remake or a different thing with some resemblance to the original. Any genre, any game :)

By the way, it might be good if you could post the original tune besides your remix, so everybody can hear what you made out of it.

Since I will be leaving next sunday for a week, Nikolas has agreed to open a member votation once the deadline is reached (I leave when to close the votation cycle to his discretion).

In the votation you have 3, 2 and 1 point. So give 3 points to the one you liked the most, 2 to the next one and so on.

I wish good luck to all of you!  ;D

BOYD1981

erm, you only just started this contest today yet the start date is the 6th and the finish date is the 13th, how are we supposed to start 5 days prior to you announcing what the theme is?

lol, sorry, I actually thought today was the 6th :) Fixed now.

PsychicHeart

this sounds like a good topic!
I'll have to find a program that can convert mp3 to midi though.
Formerly known as Flukeblake, Flukezy etc.

maaark

No! of course not!
Just interpret yourself!
You have ears, you know!

And a remix is about not being 100% the same.

PsychicHeart

well, yes perhaps, but i'll have to change mp3 to midi so i can insert it into my composition program. I'm not going to actually use that track to do my piece, but just to get an idea of what sort of notes to use.

Here we go, one of my favorite game tunes.  I downsampled it quite a bit but that should add to the charm.

In case you are unfamiliar I tried to track down the soundtrack from the arcade but didn't have luck.  This midi is about as close as I could get to the original coolness.

Edit:  I didn't like how the guitar sounded so I edited the tune.

Haddas

I made this some time ago.

My Version of The Green Valley Zone Song from Sonic The Hedgehog 1:
Here 'tis

And, the original verion

Basically i changed a few instruments around, lowered/highered the pitch on some notes, got rid of some notes entirely, and added a few new notes into it.
Anyway, enjoy!

I love this reccurring theme! ;)

Here is a remix of the the track "Project 4 Fortress" from the SNES game UN Squadron AKA Area 88.

http://hem.bredband.net/galactic/project_4_fortress.ogg

A little rushed, but I hope you like it!

EDIT:

Oh yeah, this is pretty true to the original, except for some minor melody / chord changes and the synth solo section in the middle which I wrote separately.

And here is the original (I forgot)! http://hem.bredband.net/galactic/01.it
Diversity is divine!

Meh. From Rocket Knight Adventures.

This is unrelated, but by the way... I love Oatmeal. ;)

Ok!

Officially the votation (;D) is open.

You can vote up to three different tracks (preferably with the composers names along), and award them 3,2 and 1 points. If you want you can vote for less than 3 people, or noone if you're a bad person!

Anyway let us hear your thoughts:

The voting will last 2 days (48 hours that is) from now!
