I only made one RotN game. It's "007 3/4 Disappearance Time", and it sucks horribly.
I thought that it would be interesting if I re-released the game, but with some commentary (like in Chronicles of Riddick, Half-Life 2: Lost Coast, Portal or the like).
It would be kinda interesting to see how I (back then: a stupid immature boy) came to create the atrocities found within the game. It will also reveal some behind-the-scenes material, such as my discussions with the RotN higher-ups before they accepted the game on the website. Finally, it will reveal what exactly do I think about the game and its character, Sam Salmon, after all those years.

Good idea?
You know what they say... no... wait... you don't. What a shame.

Go for it, that man. Sounds interesting indeed.

(Is it me, or have a LOT of RON oldies been resurfacing as of late?)

If you were going to spend the time on a re-release, why not do your best to improve the game with better story, graphics and puzzles.  You could still do a commentary, but could provide a comparison to which parts you've improved to the original version.

Shane 'ProgZmax' Stevens

You could package the original side by side with an improved version so people could follow along with your commentary :).

Did you add the commentary or follow Renegade Implementor's advice?

Renegade Implementor

Game's on the site.  As far as I could tell, the commentary was the only additional content.

Just finished it, and I really dug the commentary. It's always fascinating reading the writer's insights into what went into his work, so kudos for that. It's curious to hear the backstory you had planned for Sam - in my mind, the rampant eye swirving thing was a possible to the fact that maybe he was just a guy in a tux operating under the delusion he was a secret agent after an all night bender of espresso and a Roger Moore boxset.

But yeah. Okayish game, awesome commentary. Looks like you've really come a long way as a writer too, if you can pick up on what really didn't work and why.

Just finished it, thought the commentary was very funny, and kinda reminds me about how I feel about elements of my earlier games. I particularly liked your comments about how the Beta Tester thought it was supposed to be a surrealist game, like Davy Jones C'est Mort.

You should try creating a new game. Like DC said, you seem to have come on leaps and bounds in terms of writing skills.

Hmm... I couldn't find it. I don't suppose you have a direct link?

Renegade Implementor

Disappearance Time can be found on page 6, eighth from the top.  It's page can be found at this link.
