Named Wrong?

Ah, probably shitty name. How about, Blisters?
Worked on Strangeland, Primordia, Hob's Barrow, The Cat Lady, Mage's Initiation, Until I Have You, Downfall, Hunie Pop, and every game in the Wadjet Eye Games catalogue (porting)

House of leaves (which is actually a book),

A happy, folksy book. Please don't name a band after it.

Checked MySpace out. It's good material, and your own singing reminds me a LOT of 80's nu-romance. Whether that's good or bad, I dunno, but it's good for me  ;D

Was this a joke? House of Leaves is anything but happy...
Interestingly, I've considered this name before, as I really really like the book, but then again the book is very dark and depressing, so it wouldn't really fit. Also, there is a band called it already, surprise. I even went so far as to consider The Whalestoe Letters as a name, as I think that particular passage is a brilliant piece of literature.

Regarding seasons, I've thought of the name The Autumn Odes in the past, which is a nod towards Keats. Moonlight Faire isn't bad, but it's almost a bit too glam-fantasy...
Keep 'em coming

Coming up with names is fun! A few off the top of my head:

Yesternight's News
The Open Eyes (you'd be forever known as TOE!)
The Surrounding Things
Petter Andail & The Lubricated Banjos

Oliwerko

The Evening Thoughts
The Underwater Fish
The Summer's Wings
The Spinning Winds

It may well depend on where the name will be seen... it will look different on a CD then it will a billboard poster for example..

Imagine someone passing a poster with your name on... does it look appealing enough
for people to go "Hey, cool name, I wonder who they are??" sort of thing..

If you want a personal tip... check the horses.... there are some great names amongst them... just adapt a few  to your own taste.. may give good results.

Also how that name is display in terms of text, color and if its abstract..

Find a few good names and make up some posters and see of any click...

You say its folky stuff.. well, the name can be as absurd as any new wave band!

I have been playing in bands for 40 years, it can be quite daunting!!

Good luck.

barefoot  (believe it or not.. barefoot was a band i was in years ago!)

I'm sure there must be something left in the world of straight colour to use.

The CMYK Eyes. Or roses? Or The CMYK Hearts? Anything that already is a band name will be improved greatly replacing the actual colour with CMYK.

Except "Simply Red" maybe, haha.
I, object.

I thought about folk bandnames for a while
how about:

'the Hibernators'
'the prospectors'
'walden'
'swedish faust'
'the Carl Sagans'
'the zeniths'
'the Ahabs'
or 'the captain Ahabs' to make it more obvious

you can actually do this with practically anything ofcourse...

'the don quijotes'
'the jonathan livingston seagulls'
'les petit princes'

just pick a book :)

Exactly. If you went with "The Ahabs" it could easily be misprinted "The Arabs". Then I might book you for an event thinking I was getting the people of Arabia. Imagine my disappointment when you turn out to be a scandinavian folk duo.

I would suggest you follow in the vein of "Franz Ferdinand" and the "Kaiser Chiefs" and try to theme your name around figures from World War I. How about "The Lloyd George Experience" or "Lenin and the Bolsheviks".

Tuomas

The Hitler Duo. No wait, that was WW2

"Dr. Goebbels Jazz Orchestra" revival. Now you realise this was used already by Mr. Goebbels, but you'd be the revival!

Sam.

Just choose the wankiest thing you can think of. If you take a name from the suggestions, it won't mean anything to you.
Bye bye thankyou I love you.

Ali

My money's on "Wankiest Thing".

Well, I'd say they should call themselves "Gassed Jews" then.
