Kind Hearts & Coronets? I think I had that one once before.

You guessed it correctly a year ago today! :O

CaptainD

Is that Bette Davis?  My guess is All About Eve on the basis that I might be right.  Not quite sure it is though.

Quintaros

It's not Bette Davis, either.  Maybe not quite as big a name as she.

I think she's

Myrna Loy?

Lorenzo is on the right track.

Still waiting for some guesses.

One of the Thin Man films? Not the first one, because I remember she had shorter hair in it (or at least a different hairdo).

Quintaros

Again, you're on the right track Lorenzo. Perhaps this will help you identify the specific entry in the series:

Snarky

I think that may be the third one, where they go to some sort of family gathering. Don't remember the name (this is where I gave up on the series).

Quintaros

I guess there's no point in having people going through the motions of rattling off the different titles.  This is the fourth entry "Shadow of the Thin Man".  I haven't noticed any drop in quality as the series goes on.  The mysteries are never really my focal point and I just enjoy the relationship of Nick and Nora.  Anyway,  give this round to Lorenzo.

lorenzo

I don't think I would've guessed the right title. I haven't seen those film in some time and to make matter worse some of the Italian titles are a bit different from the original ones. For example, the "thin man" was translated as the "shadow man", creating the silly title "The Shadow of the Shadow Man".

Nope!
Here's another image from the film:

No Humphrey Bogart in this film! But the main actor of this movie had a role in a comedy with Bogart.

I almost made a guess after the first image since that shack looked familiar, but with the second scene I'm certain it's Jacques Tourneur's grim noir  'Nightfall'. He's one of my favourite directors from that period.

You're right, it's Nightfall!
I've seen a few films by Tourneur, like Out of the Past and I Walked with a Zombie, and they were pretty good.

Cat People and Night of the Demon are also worth checking out. Anyway:
