Maniac Mansion crashes after getting envelope

After opening Edna's Safe behind the ugly painting and took the quarter from the envelope, when I went back down and she caught me. I left the dungeon and went up the stairs, when suddenly, the camera pans to the right, the game crashes and gives me this message:

An error has occured. Please contact the game author for support, as this problem is caused by the game rather than the interpreter.

Unfortunately LucasFan hasn't been active here since Oct. 30, 2006.

BTW, I am using Wendy and Razr. Doesn't matter who gets the envelope, very soon after that I'll get the error and the game will crash.

Anyone have any suggestions please?
