No guts no glory, no pain no gain.

I keep thinking I'd like to do a game in the visual style of eighties cartoons, but I'm just not that competent an artist! Which is a shame, since I've got so many concepts clawing their way out through my ears.

I always liked the Galaxy Rangers. It left a lasting impression on me that Thundercats just didn't.

Heretic! What's not to love? Swords! A convertible tank! Humanoid felines with pecs like watermelons and shoulders like coconuts. To me, Lion-O's was the new He-Man (with WAY better haircut, too). And Cheetarah! Check out that body! It shall be the last thing you'll see -- before she claws your eyes out for the blasphemy ;)

Hm... Galaxy Rangers were cool, too. I didn't remember the name - but I did think of them when I stumbled upon this thread. And when I look at it now, it kinda looks like Cowboy Bebop here and there (especially the warp speed sequences). Another space-opera thingy that comes to mind is SilverHawks.

It's basically ThunderCats in space. I think I liked it a little less than TC -- but they did have some wicked enemies, and the rock theme was cool, too.

To move slightly away from lasers and swordiness, and to celebrate Petteri's (hopefully reasonably lengthed) return, I present....
DENVER, THE LAST DINOSAUR (I challenge anyone who hears that title to not sing as much of the rest of the tune as they know :P)

Another favourite of mine being....
Ch-ch-ch-Chip & Dale, Rescue Rangers:

And finally, a personal favourite for obvious reasons :P

Galaxy High is the cartoon that inspired me to make Limey Lizard.  That said, I was a big fan of Thundercats, Transformers, He-Man, GI-Joe!, TMNT and many other cartoons growing up.  I do think the coolest intro music award would have to go to M.A.S.K., though.  The real shame is that there were just so many good cartoons in the 80's that competition for time slots was fierce and shows like Thundercats only lasted like 3 years if they were lucky (unless you were TMNT).

Also, here's a nice (but by no means thorough) montage of some of the more memorable 80's cartoons: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3r2SOJdJKDo

So how about guilty pleasure cartoons rather than popular ones?  I would say mine were Pole Position and, of course, Pac-Man.  Shameful, I know.

So, what were some of YOUR guilty pleasure cartoons?

80s went fantasy and sf, 90s went dark and scary and now we have really a small number of show which show really creativity and world building. There's stuff maybe like diluted 80s, Ben10 (don't know if anybody saw this, but the monster design is pretty good) and the post-something stuff like Adventure time and then there's a bunch of stuff on Adult swim which makes jokes that are funny to people who watched all the 80s and 90s stuff.

We're forgetting Robin Wood (the anime one, i think robin no hadouken), where robin is a kid. The english theme is just amazing. I can still sing it to this day.

Several of people I've met that came across this, still remember the "good luck to you, robin of the forest" part of the song. Simply amazing.

Ninja Turtles (the 1980's version)... my favorite villain is Baxter Stockman (in his mutant fly form).
