RoN GUI template in 640x480 *Updated 3-30-13*
« on: 14 Mar 2013, 04:37 »
I needed 640 x 480 resolution for an idea I was working on. The current RoN GUI template (ron-template3p1-090622.zip) from the RoN resource is great, but it's only in 320 x 240 resolution. I changed the resolution in the editor, but that didn't look much different then just running in full screen mode. Which doesn't take advantage of the higher resolution and the GUI looks rather grainy/pixely like this…

So I'm in the process of modifying/revising the GUI and graphics to look/work better in 640 x 480 resolution like this…

Once I'm done, would there be any interest in adding it as a RoN resource?

Of course.  New music, templates, graphics and any other form of resources are always welcome.

Cool 8-)
I still got a few things to rework/adjust before it's ready to use. When the time comes, mayhaps you could give it a once over before I release it to the public?

Here are a few images of the 640x480 facelift for the RoN GUI template. I tried to keep it as close to the original toony look as possible. Let me know what you think?

I used the existing menu buttons as a template for larger inventory icons, and then slightly enlarged the inventory window to accommodate the new icons.

I kept the “Save” and “Load” menus larger for ease if use. It was difficult to read the text in a smaller box. I also added a dash of color to the menu screens and buttons.

I also changed the border around the Text Windows to try and match it with the new look of the menus.

Once again, let me know what you think?

Here are the original files for inventory and load/save window if you need to resize them without losing quality.
Let me know if you don't have Photoshop or otherwise can't open the files and I can resize them for you.

Thanx, the inventory one will come in real handy  :-D

I don't have Photoshop, and I'm not sure if they converted over properly. Any chance of getting these in png format?

You didn't mention any specific size so I made them 400% bigger, hope it is enough.

Edit: looks like I forgot the transparency. I'll update the pictures when I get home.

That looks much better, the program I had did a bad job of converting it. Sorry about leaving out the size part, but 200% would be large enough. I'll still hold onto the 400% ones just incase.

I updated the links with images with transparency. I figured 400% would be enough, you can always make them smaller without losing any quality.

I was able to enlarge the "Inventory Window", thanks to zabnat uploading his originals of the menus  :-D

I reworked the "Inventory Window" and menu buttons again, in order to accommodate the use of the existing icons in the RoN resources.

This looks great. I would just say that the arrows on the inventory window are a bit small compared to the rest.
