KTX-1 is a game I made for the MAGS March 2013 competition. It was made in ~90 hours over the course of the month and the entire creation process from beginning to end, without leaving anything out, was livestreamed and recorded on twitch.tv/nihilstarcraft.

It features a lot of custom scripting (interface and minigames), several solutions to most puzzles (with consequences) and picture-in-pictures!

You play as an agent, briefed to defuse a bomb on a high-speed train. A DAW (Digital Warfare Assistant, ie. a hacker) is assigned to you and helps you through the game.

Give it a try and let me know what you think! :)

Ghost

Your streams were entertaining and informative already. Downloading and looking forward to playing!

Congrats on finishing it DKH! I really enjoyed watching the stream when I was able to and it even got me inspired to open AGS and start playing around with it myself! (As well as getting back to work on AGSA).
On the subject of AGSA, although I DO prefer you use the url you have used, the new.agsarchives.com domain is still in a development phase so at times it could potentially be unavailable (because I might have done a change that makes the site crash or similar, though usually when that happens I'm quick to get it working again..) so here is a url to the stable site that might be worth including in the first post aswell: http://agsarchives.com/gamecard/1142/ktx-1.html

Armageddon

That was amazing, you could make a full game out of this and sell it, just needs to let me skip text and have better graphics, and removed Wilhelm scream. :)

We won! Yay! Thank you so much for everybody that interacted and helped on stream, you've been a substantial part in this!

Looks awesome...I'm trying to run it but I get an error as soon as I click New Game.

Quote"An error has occurred. Please contact the game author for support, as this is likely to be a scripting error and not a bug in AGS. (ACI version 3.21.1115)
in "Globalscript.asc", line 64
Error: GUI.Y: co-ordinates specified are out of range

Is there a recommended setting I should be using?

Looking into it right now. Expect a patch ASAP!

I actually had this error myself once DKH, it was when I tried and run the game with any thing less than graphics filter 4x and in full screen.
I totally forgot to mention it :O.

Try running it in window mode Shadow1000 with whatever graphics filter you have chosen :).

Window mode worked. I already had it set to 4X graphic filter as that was the default. It really looks like a great game, as I said, but I think I'll wait for DoorKnobHandle to update it so I can play it in its full glory - fullscreen mode :)

Well, looks like I lost the entire project data. Both the AGS project and the artwork folder. When I cleaned up my FTP space on agser.me I apparently THOUGHT I had already pulled my files down when I transferred back home to my own apartement when I had actually not done that yet.

Sorry, this is a real shame, especially since people were interested in the source code, too. Looks like the recorded videos is all I have. Glad to hear that it is at least worked for you in some fashion, Shadow1000.

Download numbers just quadrupled - maybe this excellent article on IndieGames.com has something to do with it? http://indiegames.com/2013/04/freeware_pick_ktx-1_cyberpunk.html

Very nice little game! Quite impressive in it's variety and tight design, even more so given that it's a MAGS entry.

I really liked how every puzzle is unique in one way or another, and how there are many non-standard systems and elements. Graphics are nice and pleasantly stylish too, with all the additional screens and GUIs making the game feel slightly bigger than it actually is, and establishing the cyberpunky aspects of the setting a bit more. A short game well worth playing, great job! :)

Well THAT really sucks! No backup on that laptop you were making it on?

@Ilyich: Thanks a lot! I'm very happy to hear you enjoyed this short little MAGS game!

@Miez: Nope, it's my parents' laptop that I only used while I was back home in-between semesters, so I wiped everything from it before I left. I never really lost data because usually I'm very careful - but there's a first time for everything. On the plus side, apart from that one issue that seems to affect some people when they change the graphics options (this would be trivial to fix), there isn't really anything else that I would do with the project anyways I guess.

But hey, if somebody happens to have 90 hours of free time on their hands, you could just rewatch all the videos, re-do everything I did and send me the project haha! (/jk)

Haha, that would make for a pretty cool crowdsourcing project :D

I just played through it and I'm left with a somewhat positive feeling of depression. Great job! A true little AGS gem very worth the time and with the different solutions inviting me to replay. Very very well done and a deserved winner.

Haha, we weren't exactly very subtle with the references in this one! Thank you so much for playing and giving your feedback, it's super motivating and appreciated!
