But now it's 'sit on yer bum' being dismally fed up since my stroke which has left me partially disabled (forgetting things, memory loss, difficulty co-ordinating and stuff...I have a positive outlook mind and I hope one day that I can add what I do jobwise HERE until then AGS is a great comfort and mind occupier so you could say my job is an AGS'er (laugh)

Technocrat

There seems to be a lot of teachers in here - adding to that, I'm an English teacher, and after that job I compensate people thousands of pounds for the mistakes of Barclay's bank. In an ideal world, I'd like to make games!

Publisher. Nice term. Sole trader of video games, more correct term. Since mid-2012, a Job Center "business start up" course got me focused and helped motivate me to go self employed. After years of searching for the "right" direction for 'Screen 7' it became obvious that the original reason it was formed for - adventure games - is the best direction. Now I answer emails all day about why you can't get The Cat Lady on Steam yet.  8-)

Are you actually a porn theatre janitor? Previously, didn't you say you were working for NASA?

monkey424

QuoteMan jobs!

I often work around blokey foul-mouthed construction workers and dirty drillers. I sometimes dig holes in the ground and get sweaty. I also do lots of dynamic cone penetrometer (DCP) tests - sometimes in conjunction with digging holes. Now that's what I call manly! On the other hand I also spend a fair amount of time on computers and generally being pedantic with calculations and spreadsheets so that balances it out a bit.

I just LOVE the idea that one doesn't exclude the other. It would be all kinds of awesome and explain a lot, too.

miguel

Ryan and Ghost:
Yes, there's a huge amount of awesome in my line of work, every sit is a sit, every row has its specific traits and a plastic cup of lemonade may include more than you'd expect. Art has different ways of revealing itself but, when the lights are finally on, the theatre is one brand new modern Pollock set of splashy art!

Let's just say that NASA has an interest in Porn and that life is a Theatre.

Fascinating stories about my work will be in my memoires, monkey. Sorry.
Working on a RON game!!!!!

Eric

After a year of applications, I've just accepted a tenure track Assistant Professor position in a communications department at a Midwestern liberal arts college. Moving across country in July!

Asclepius

For the last year or so, I've been a student psychiatric nurse and part time carer for the elderly.

Previously, soldier, EHT, carer, naked model and farm labourer.

Some of those are manly? Maybe manly-lite.

miguel

Asclepius, naked model does not apply, my friend. Farm labourer does. Or elephant hygiene technician.

I'm an auxiliary nurse.

Also, an indie dev, I guess;)

Problem

I'm a private music teacher and math tutor.

Still here.

Stupot

Finally got a job. It's only a month-long English teaching gig at a summer school, but at least for now I don't have to call myself unemployed for a few weeks. :)

Disco

I work as a server in a fine dining restaurant.

The only part-time retail asshole on this entire board apparently.
Wow. To hell with you guys and your interesting jobs. To. Hell.

Full time retail manager.
Probably in the same sub-category as you Eggie.

I'm also in the EFL game. Since my post above I have come [back] to Japan and had two jobs, first as an assistant language teacher in two junior high schools and then as a teacher in an eikaiwa (English conversation school) which is ironic considering I am a terrible conversationalist.

I like the job though. Get to meet lots of interesting folks, including a member of AKB48. Just yesterday I taught a woman who is one of the top judges on the international figure-skating scene. Although equally there are some excruciating, boring-as-hell housewifes and salaryman who have nothing to talk about other than how much 'nothing special' they do between lessons.

Gurok

I'm a software developer. I work in Java and Javascript.
It's software as a service that graphic design studios use.

I'm in broadcasting.  My job title is  Master Control Operator.

On a good day, this means I watch TV for a living.

On a bad day, it means I try to figure out why the TV went off the air and fix it.

Andail

I'm a teacher half of the time and game developer half of the time.

Blondbraid

I currently don't have any job, I'm studying video game development with a graphics orientation at university.

Danvzare

I'm a student studying ICT and Design. So I guess I'm in the same boat as Blondbraid. (laugh)

CrashPL

I work as a QA engineer for a company delivering IT solutions for medical and pharmaceutical industry.

My night job is captain of a beer league hockey team called the Dragons.  Or at least it will be when the fall season starts.  1st time captain, should be fun!  Doesn't pay, aside from a few free beers, but it's fulfilling in so many other ways.

I see many people have written they want to be "a fully time AGS'er". I guess that means making money from their games? That's great if people are actually able to make a living from doing that!

It's been done... Look at Dave Gilbert... But it takes a LOT of passion and vision to be able to achieve...
