I might have shared this before, but we've been playing Hollow Knight again. The soundtrack is very nice:

Yay Hollowknight! I absolutly can´t wait for Silksong to be released :) Maybe in the meantime I will try "Celeste", it is said to be a little similar.

Cool thanks for the lead! Hadn't heard of Celeste. Yeah, I'm also looking forward to Silksong, but we're still such a long way from finishing Hollow Knight. (laugh) It's a really long game!

Thats true and also a very difficult one. I could only ever play it like one hour at a time before I got insanly frustrated. But I love it nevertheless :D What is your favorite region in Hollowknight so far?

(Hope nobody minds us going down this rabbit hole for a moment!)

My son and I have played the game for months (albeit only for a few hours on weekends) and we're still only Greenpath/City of Tears areas. (roll) There's something the game gets very right about its music though, and I think that's a big reason why I like it so much. I'd say Greenpath is the favourite stage I've seen so far because the colour switch from drab Crossroads was big news for my son and I ( (laugh)) and the music reminds me of a moment in my past I feel sentimental about (it starts at exactly 9:00, in case this link doesn't position properly):

The other track I really like is 'Reflection', which is unique but sort of reminds me of that nice theme song from American Beauty. (It actually also loosely reminds me of music from your game, Doors! I think I commented on Doors music in another thread.) Here it is (starts at 15:21):

How about you? Any favourite stages I should be looking forward to? You know, we should probably just start a Hollow Knight thread. There's a lot to talk about! (laugh) I just looked at a Hollownest map and, yeah, that's a big game.

Hollowknight talk:
Spoiler

I hope its okay when I set everything in a spoiler, so that anyone not interested can just scroll by.

Greenpath and City of Tears are also my favorite parts of the game. I think its just the atmosphere there, Greenpath is very relaxing to walk through and the City of Tears contributes a lot to the story I guess and the rain adds a gloomy feeling to it. Another part that I really liked, wich I think you have not yet come through, is Crystal Peak.

But I think that every region kind of has its own feelign to it and the music plays big part in that. And the art of course, I think that the kind of minimalistic style (in comparison to other games like that) of Hollowknight is very eyecatching.

My favorite boss is in the Fungal Wastes though, the Mantis Lords. I really like the battle music (starts at 17:00) and they are just cool characters.

As for favorite stages: I think its always fun when you gain a new power and suddenly can go places you have not been before or some things just get easier with it :D

All of them...

...but Shirley is the best.

I found this much earlier this year, probably did not post here. It's hard to tell if I new what "post-rock" genre means before, but I like it.

Few examples, by same (or related) people, Hungarian bands called "Silent Island" and "Black Hill".

So cool, Crimson Wizard!

Now, christmas is coming...

What is your favourite song for christmas? That's mine:

I haven't had time to do more than dip into those albums, CW, but I like the sound.
Boney M and Shirley Bassey too (almost goes without saying!).

Here's a song that always cracks me up. I guess it's meant to be sad(?) — but it's so absurdly over the top it just makes me feel happy:

Another one that I can't quite take seriously:

"Jesus Christ, I'm so blue all the time/  That's just how I feel / Always have and always will" ... It's all a bit too on the nose.
Bridgers' song doesn't have the jauntiness of O'Sullivan's, though, so it doesn't cheer me up the same way.

Ponch

Tonight I'm listening to a playlist of Christmas songs. I have forty or so songs in the list, and I break it out every year. The song playing right now is TVTV$ "Daddy Drank All Our Christmas Money."

The previous ones were:
Reverend Horton Heat's "We Three Kings"
George Thorogood "Rock & Roll Christmas"
El Vez "Feliz Navidad"
Bootsy Collins "Merry Christmas, Baby"
Weird Al "Christmas at Ground Zero"

It's that time of year, I guess.  :cheesy:

It's always a pleasure to catch up with this thread and discover awesome stuff. Post-rock and game OST make great background music.

Radio Radio's chiac in Dekshoo is as cool and incomprehensible as this song:

It's a really fun one. That version is actually a cover, with the original by Adriano Celentano:

I made a peculiar find recently.

I cannot say that I am very fond of Kiss. It is not the music that I like - and I remain childishly unable to not read their name as 'wee' (which is what kiss means means 'round here).

Then, they went and made their 'anti-album', the sort of album some bands sometimes do, something so far from their ordinary path that their listeners cannot make heads or tails of it. In this case, it is Music from the Elder!

Spoiler

I heard it first as I imagine a lot of people did - with other youngsters sprawled around smoky rooms, nodding and mumbling. I have remembered it since, but I could not find it again. No wonder, though. I would never ever have guessed that it was Kiss, of all people! Then, it featured in a web-comic, and we were re-acquainted. Goodness, the world is small - and things have a tendency to return to you when you expect it the least.

It is not the best album, certainly not a favourite, but it is a very unexpected re-acquaintance. There is certainly some nostalgia from my part, but even so, I like it. It is good! Very good. Certainy the best Kiss ever did.

What is your favorite Slipknot' song? Even if Duality is probably the most famous I prefer this:

I've no idea what the lyrics to this are, so I can only assume the band was just a big fan of Tom Hardy's performance in The Dark Knight Rises.

Edit: Nevermind, the mad lads re-recorded the whole album in English. I've never followed Opeth closely, but this is seriously my jam.

Blondbraid

I recently saw a post about this old Amy Lee song being more relevant today than when it came,
when everyone is expected to create a brand and idealized public persona for themselves online,
and after re-listening I couldn't help but agree;
