I'm so sorry to be so predictable, but I'm listening to this tonight:

I know Thom Yorke takes shit for straddling a creative style that crosses over into pop, but I've always admired his songwriting and lyrical abilities.

Still, as far as STD-and-related songs, nothing can beat this!
(Better audio here, but the cover/thumbnail is very much NSFW!)

Um let me quote myself: "where do you find this stuff?" (laugh) Wow, thanks that was a lovely unexpected detour.

Back in my goth clubbing days I used to hang out with a bunch of hackers that were really into EBM and electro industrial... Velvet Acid Christ, KMFDM, Front Line Assembly, Clock DVA, Skinny Puppy, stuff like that, and they introduced me to a lot of... let's say fringe stuff :-D

I just realised the world needs more sentences that start with ‘back in my goth clubbing days’. (laugh) (laugh)

Oh, among my friends it's a pretty common conversation starter, hahah (I was just chatting to a friend right now about that time some skinheads started shouting Sieg Heil during a neofolk concert and we were like wait, so these guys are for real? Ah, those were the days). Maybe you just don't hang around the right people :-D

Oh yeah, just catching up, and that's a really fun track, Laura. I dig it. It reminds me a little bit of a band my sister got me into:

Pretty cool! Not a band I can see myself going back to often, but it made me curious enough to check out a few more of their tracks, so thanks for that!

Listening to them I also found myself thinking of Queen Adreena for some reason, even though the styles aren't really that similar. But there's definitely a common vibe there somewhere:

Ugh I'm so sorry. All these interesting niche entries and I'm stuck on 90s pop:

For some reason I'm listening to the Russian national anthem:

Anyone have an anthem recommendation?

I was just reminded that several AGSers are due to have babies around this time:

Finn Coren set a whole bunch of William Blake poems to some really good music (take "To Tirza" for example). The only thing that detracts from it, in my book, is that his English pronunciation is not great.

Spent most of this morning looking at YouTube videos of this guy:

Not bad for a busker.

PS Admit that I don't follow this topic very closely, so hope I haven't duplicated an artist, and he is an artist.

Found this cover of a tune of Carlos Santana made by his former percussionist Coke Escovedo, it's more groovy and singed better (by whom?)!

Huey Lewis sued Columbia and Ray Parker Jr. over the Ghostbusters theme, while the band that wrote "Soul Finger" got nothing.

Sometimes I think I've spent the last twenty-plus years looking for music that reminds me of my favorite trip hop tracks—which were always the really slow, grimy, druggy beats.

... Like "Risingson":

... and "Going Under":

(Also available in an even slower, druggier dub.)

All right, if nobody else is listening to anything, guess what?

I think I originally heard about this New Brunswick Nova Scotia group on Kate Beaton's Twitter. I like the multilingual English/Chiac lyrics.

Kinda cool they're sing/rapping in Chiac, but ugh watching that video makes my face want to cringe implode. (laugh)

I don't know The Cars well, but my brother had this skateboarding video that had this chilled out segment with this song playing in the back, which I always really liked:
